Kerry Packer, ranked 94th richest man in the World with a $5 billion fortune died last night in his Sydney home. Packer's two children, James and Gretel, issued a statement via Channel Nine executive Tony Ritchie saying that Kerry "died peacefully at home". Kerry owned TV stations, newspapers and Melbourne's Crown Casino. He was 68.

SYDNEY, Australia - Australia's wealthiest man, media and gambling mogul Kerry Packer, has died, his family said in a statement Tuesday. He was 68.

Packer — ranked as the world's 94th wealthiest person by Forbes magazine, with a $5 billion fortune — died Monday at his Sydney home, according to the statement released through his Nine Network television.

"Mrs. Kerry Packer and her children, James and Gretel, sadly report the passing last evening of her husband and their father Kerry," according to a statement from Tony Ritchie, a Nine Network executive. "He died peacefully at home with his family at his bedside."

Even the ultra rich cannot stave off mortality. I always view deaths like this as a dispelling of the conspiracy theories that say the rich/pharmaceutical companies have the cure for cancer. If they truly did the likes of Kerry Packer wouldn't die from cancer or at the very least they would be shouting from the rooftops that they wont release something that would save his own life.

The face of Australian big business has change today. I assume Rupert Murdoch would be Australia's richest now?
