A Texas judge dismissed conspiracy charges against former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, but refused to quash the more serious money-laundering charge against him, meaning it is likely a trial will be held next year. The prosecutor in the case says DeLay violated Texas election law by exchanging corporate money raised in Texas for money raised elsewhere from individuals. DeLay claims he did nothing wrong and that the charges are politically motivated.

WASHINGTON — A judge dismissed the conspiracy charges Monday against Rep. Tom DeLay but refused to throw out the money-laundering charges, dashing his hopes for now of reclaiming his post as House majority leader.

It's not surprising the conspiracy charge was quashed, as it was not even part of the Texas election code at the time the prosecutor said it was violated. But the money laundering charges are the more serious charges, and apparently the judge believes that law may have been violated by what the prosecutor alleges DeLay did.

Occurs he is guilty, look at how many of the leadership in the present administration are link in some scandal or another when it comes to money.

Occurs let's not put the blame on the Republican leadership only but both parties have dirty laundry in their closets.

I dislike DeLay from the beginning he do not strike me as sincere.

Dose anyone honestly think DeLay knows what is right and wrong?

The VP Dick Cheney is scheduled to headline a fundraiser for DeLays legal defense fund.. for $4200 you can have your picture taken with Cheney, on December 5th (originally it was scheduled for Septemeber, but was changed due to Hurricaine katrina). it is also going to double as a fundraiser for his re-election campaign.

Obviosuly for some people innocent until proven guilty is really true, really sucks of Delay is put behind bars with all that fundraiser money gone to naught

How anyone could still support this administration or republicans only proves how one of two things is true. Either there are a lot like immoral people in this country or just easily led sheep who will beleive anything ( i blame religion)
