The Oldest Registered Domains on the Net

WhoIs created a list of the oldest domains on the internet which you can find here.

According to the list, www.symbolics.com... is the oldest domain showing a registration date of March 15, 1985 and the site is still in operation. In fact looking at the site...well, you can tell.

Also in 1985: NORTHROP.COM

Many other notible domains didn't register until 1986 including:
XEROX.COM
HP.COM
IBM.COM
SUN.COM
INTEL.COM
ATT.COM
BELL-ATL.COM
BOEING.COM
GTE.COM
ADOBE.COM
3COM.COM
UNISYS.COM
AMD.COM

In 1987: APPLE.COM

Microsoft was not on this list. They didn't register until 1991.

I love it when I see personal sites that haven't been updated since like 1999. Guess some people get bored with it. I know I do!

I love when history repeats itself.


Apple was four years ahead of Microsoft back then, and they're at least that now.

Indeed it is quite funny. Hey if you were frozen, and just woke up and read that, you'd think it was 1999!
