Run Away! Stalone set to make Rocky 6

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the theatre, Rocky 6 is set to begin filming. Directed and written and starring SLy Stallone its like a hat trick for everything wrong with Hollywood.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sylvester Stallone is signing on to reprise his role as boxer Rocky Balboa in the sixth installment of the long-running film series, which he wrote and will direct.

The film, titled "Rocky Balboa," will be co-produced and co-financed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

Stallone has been trying to make a sixth movie for years and has been reworking a script. The latest version, which sources said is similar to the tone and grit of the first two movies, persuaded the studios to negotiate a deal.

Sly I like you, you're a good guy. You can still make money. But don't insult the movie going audience with another Rocky movie... unless Rocky dies in it.

Why is he doing it? Because he's smart. He will make a ton of money. So he's made some lousy movies...who hasn't? He's made plenty of good ones also. He should have gotten an Academy Award for Copland. And Get Carter was pretty stylish...whatever.

People love Rocky Balboa and they'll go see the movie. He's no dumby and never was.

If I was a bettin' man, and I absolutely am, I'd bet against that. People are not going to fork over what it costs to buy a ticket to see this. I'd be surprised if it breaks even. Of course, it's probably not going to cost too much to make so it might make some money, but certainly nowhere near what Stallone expects I bet.

BTW, good call on Copland. I loved Stallone in that.

I'm a sucker and will probally go and see it if nothing better is out. Though I will say the line for 2006 2007 is looking really good so it will find itself way down on the list. One last point, this can't be any worse than Rocky 5 well nvm it can just think of Mike Tyson's last fight

Hes Old but in better shape then all of us no doubt. Im a huge fan of the rocky series; I would hate it to end with V. VI can not be worse then that, so it can only come up from here. Seems like he is just trying to keep going from the contender which i loved; hopefully they are making this movie for the right reasons though. I for one will be in the theatre watching it, one of the only optimists their no doubt. I hope they dont disapoint me.

In the movie, he is going to play ta 60 year old Rocky coming out of retirement.

Not to mention Rocky IV!

Sorry, but I have to laugh a bit. Here we are in an awesome open minded web site and Stallone is being a little nailed for having a bit more fun with a character that he brought to life with one of his scripts while Arnie Terminator is now in politics. I say tilt your hat to Stallone - he keeps having a shot at putting the action on the screen and doesn't seem to mind too much what ammo is going to be thrown at him for it. Another Rocky? Come on... if you've seen any of them, chances are you're gonna be curious. And why not? He's an actor and filmaker that has outlasted thousands. I imagine he couldn't care less what sort of flack he's gonna cop, cause he could have retired years ago. Yeah it could be a bad thing, cause there's no action star filling in for the new years. So if the film sucks, then there's a bad taste left in the mouth. At least he's willing to gamble his integrity.

For some reason...that image of the old man on the cover of the Rocky XXXVIII (or something) movie in Airplane 2 comes to mind, hehe...
