Mosul is the new model of victory in Iraq. The ISF is basically operating on its own and has won the respect of their collation peers and more importantly the Iraqi people. The proof comes from the very leaders of the enemies themselves.

Abu Zayd was the leader of the insurgency in Mosul. As inept of a leader as he was, he was smart enough to outline the failure of the terrorists in his region and under his command.

The Zayd Letter:

In the name of God the Merciful

We thank God and may our prayers and peace be on the Prophet of God, His family, his followers and on everyone who endorses him.

May Peace and God’s blessings and mercifulness be on you. From the Mujahadeen of Abu Zayd unit to Sheikh Abu Mus’ab al-Zarqawi (may God protect him), and we ask god to guard you and may you remain a thorn in the throat of the atheist and the ones who went off the course.

This is a clarification of what has become of the situation in Mosul, and it is no secret to you the noticeable decrease in the attacks carried out by the Mujahadeen, from not long ago when Mosul was in the hands of the Mujahadeen, in our opinion, it is all because of the following reasons:

The incompetence of the Emirs:

-The battalion Emir’s lack of military experience and strategy, and their lack of training and the training of the Mujahadeen.

-The Emir’s hold on to power until their capture or death and refusal to designate a successor, despite their incompetence.

-The lack of diversity in the attacks, and the unwillingness to go after the centers and headquarters especially when they are easy targets, and being content with sending suicide bombers after armored vehicles.

-Going after quantity in the suicide bombing and not concentrating on quality.

-The absence of any legitimate organization in Mosul, in spite of the presence of rightful knowledge seekers in Mosul.

-Squandering the Muslims money on petty expenses, cars and phones.

-Lack of collaboration between the battalion Emirs.

-Absence of obedience.

-Numerous security violations when it could have been easily avoided.

-Reports to the Sheikh about the situation in Mosul are inaccurate and blurred.

-The deplorable situation of the immigrants [TC: Foreign fighters]:

-Lodging problems

-Marginalization of immigrants and lack of training

-Absence of a special battalion for them or a command to refer to.

-Absence of any monthly monetary compensation

The letter goes on to state a “solution” but the source did not publish that as it was a security issue.

This letter was written to Zarqawi of course, and he never received it. Zayd was killed by the ISF in a raid a few weeks ago based on tips from Iraqi civilians. So here we have it in summary: The highest insurgent power in Mosul was brought down by Iraqi forces based on tips from the very Iraqi’s themselves shortly after writing about the futility of the Mujahadeen’s efforts and abilities.

Iraq is being won; the ISF, the Iraqis people, and the coalition forces are doing it and doing it right. The insurgency is broken and will never recover. It’s only a matter of time. Mosul is the model of victory in Iraq. Soon, every town and city will catch up to Mosul and the Iraqi’s will finally rid themselves of the terrorists they are plagued with.

Brilliant letter.

If it was addressed to Zarqawi then why didn't the security forces just follow the mailman and nab the guy when he came out to collect his post?

Erm wait. Did you guys verify the authencity of the letter before jumping to the gun?

Probably they're just hinting to the coalition forces :

"Hey you Americans and infidels! We are reflecting on what we must improve on for the next time we attack you! Be warn. I have made them in a point form so it is easier for you maggots to read."

Probably just a distraction letter. Distracting us from the real THING. The THING that none of us knows of.

Ok. I can't say I agree with the fact that "Iraq is being won". If Iraq is being won then why the hell is there still insurgency fighting? Trust me the insurgency is not broken they're just taking some time off before they kick the coalition force's can all over the place again.

Time will tell if Iraq really is being "won"(if that's what you want to call it). The media could say Iraq is recovering but is it the whole truth? Think about it before assuming.

Pardon my pessimistic view but your optimism kills any realistic person.
