Don't worry, fortunately there are an equal amt of ATS members(old and new) from these "other countries" who are more than willing to respond to these openly offensive displays..

Who said that Iran was rev engg. the F-117a or the raptor??

And whats all this about the 7th of July??

I simpy found it comical you were implying Iran could reverse engineer anything meaningful like the 117 or 22A

I couldn't care less if you are offended by my posts. Maybe you expected a bunch of sycophants here that will agree with everything the mighty goose has decreed is acceptable ?

You do understand that the sole purpose of these machines is to turn people into charred fragments, right ? I hope that doesn't offend your refined sensibilities

Greetings,

Comical I think not, any thing can be reverse engineered provided you have a prime example and the skills, training and supplies to complete the job, in the most part the Iranians do have those skills and training to complete the jobs, while I believe that it would be difficult to successfully copy a F/A-22, I don't believe that it would be impossible, as you know, those Iranians have the money to throw around to complete the task provided they got a F/A-22.

I am offended by your posts, you come over as a biggot, I appologise for the use of this term, for the other members reading this post, but I can't describe your behaviour in relation to the islamic religion and the other nations on this planet. As for hoping that others will blindly agree with me, your mistaken, I merely ask that they listen to a differing,Educated view point, rather than your clearly preduced comments.

I adhere to an old school of thought where you respect your oponent, rather than belittle them or disrespect them. You should look into it, as it will prevent you from getting shocked when they do some thing that other people have known from the start, they might beable to do.

Let us not Forget Iran kicked the arses of the Worlds third largest Armed forces when it invaded it. Well, it WAS the worlds until it tried that.

The Iranians are very good at using what little they have in highly effective ways. Oh, and they have some of the M1A2 Abrams apparently. Heh.

How many of those planes are being returned in flight worthy condition?

Pardon me? A chop shop?

I'm no stranger to maintenance facilities for overhauling, repairing, modding or phase inspections, and the first thing I noticed was the hangar space looked clean and orderly.
But, since that was a photoshoot, it would be expected that the place would look its best!

As opposed to the old members who specialize at vagueness in making their attacks on other countries? Right, goose?

Greetings,

Hmm, I didn't expect much better from you Westpoint, but I had hoped you wouldn't lower yourself to this.

I have never been vague when it comes to comments on other countries, I haven't to my knowledge been openly offensive to another nation, although, I refuse to remain silent when on the most part, Americans*, like to believe that every one that believes in the islamic faith are carrying a AK and a frag, waiting for a bus load of "non-believers". Its Ignorance, to believe in such a sterotypical view in this age after the attacks in america and the uk, its a sign of a lack of education.

I work in the trade of education and when I see comments like that of syrinx and some times, yours Westpoint. I like to think that even the time you take reading them will help provide you with a bit more common sense and understanding of the situation.

But it becomes apparent that to defend another nation, wether or not I agree with them or not, I fall under the wraith of the more forceful american "victims".

I defend the skills of the Iranian Engineers out of respect of their abilities, I would hope that you could do the same, as from your history, I doubt you have the skills or abilities to do the same as them.

- Phil

[*NOT all americans do this, but as with ever thing, there are always a few.]

Iran’s F-14 jet fighters significantly modified

TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (MNA) -- Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naderi, the director of Iran’s Aviation Industries Organization (AIO), announced here Tuesday that fundamental changes have been made to Iran’s F-14 jet fighters.

Speaking to reporters at AIO headquarters, Naderi said, “By combining Eastern and Western military technology, we have gained capabilities that are even surprising to our enemies.”

“Relying on its indigenous specialists, Iran today has no problems in modernizing its military equipment,” the general added.

Naderi stated that the AIO has shared knowledge with friendly countries that possess aviation industry technology.

The U.S. sanctions on Iran have not influenced the country’s military industries, he pointed out, adding that Iran has never halted its efforts to manufacture military aircraft since the sanctions were imposed.

According to Naderi, over 4,000 highly skilled specialists are currently working in Iran’s aviation industry.

Paying more attention to aviation industries could stem the brain drain, the general noted, adding that efforts should be made to attract talented university students to this industry.

The AIO is affiliated to the Ministry of Defense.

iran also makes their own versian of AIM-54C and most parts for AWG-9 radar.

Question:
A- is true that iranians made Phoenix? this is really a formidable news! Some particulars?

Tom Answered:
Yes, they have a "reverse engineered" version in low-rate production. Western intel sources compare it with the AIM-54C in capability.

www.acig.org...

AIM-54 ECCM/Sealed: improved to include electronic counter-countermeasure capabilities, does not require coolant conditioning during captive flight. used from 1988 onwards.

In recent years, Iran is said to have developed its own version of the Phoenix.

en.wikipedia.org...

Can Iran produce AWG9 radar?
Iran can produce most of the parts that can be used on the AWG-9.

www.acig.org...

The planes have got much of their structure completely renewed (i.e. replaced where needed), rebuilt, and strengthened. Most of the avionics was replaced by digital and more modern parts. They have got a plethora of new weapons integrated, and have never operated from aircraft carriers, so there was - even despite the combat - never so much stress put on them in total.

The problem with the Pheonix isn't just the motor. It's the control surfaces. They're cracking around the steering finx, so when they try to steer the fins will snap in some cases causing the missile to tumble. The Pheonix was a capable missile but had a lot of problems late in its life.

And IF the iranians can now build them complete - tis a moot point really.

I don’t think most Americans believe that view; there are several formidable Islamic counties with great engineers and systems. However what they don’t believe are the capabilities of those countries to produce weapons systems comparable to western ones. Sometimes this view is dead wrong but most of the time it isn’t.

I defend the skills of the Iranian Engineers out of respect of their abilities, I would hope that you could do the same, as from your history, I doubt you have the skills or abilities to do the same as them.

So do I, I haven’t said one thing against their abilities in this thread. I remain skeptical on the capabilities of their systems but I have an open mind and don’t put it past them to prove me wrong.

You'd like rude members dealt with quickly and finally, but you don't want anyone saying nasty things about Islamic nations who fund terrorists that really enjoy killing us. Talk about screwed up value sets.

Just how did the British become so emasculated. This is like reading the minutes of a Wandsworth Council meeting.

Sure, this certainly doesn't seem like a big press stunt does it???

This is obviously a blatant staged press propaganda event...

Wow, Vietnam-era aircraft...surely the infidels of the evil satan are quaking in their boots...???

Seriously though, even the highly touted F-14s (sold pretty stripped as I recall, and according to reports, about 4 are actually operational!) don't add up to much...

I will give the Iranians credit for one thing here though, other reports say that they have been pretty successful in re-engineering replacement parts for the Tomcats, and may have more flight-worthy soon (as they aren't getting them from the US). I believe they're also using a French missile on them (can't remember the type offhand) instead of the originals. Still, these planes won't be able to go toe-to-toe with their western counterparts, nor will their pilots.

i dont think its propaganda, they been doin this for a long time now and theres a whole bunch of other pictures than these, i also dont think they usin french missiles cuz theres russian and their own and IRIAF pilots were trained by the U.S and confirmed kill with F-14 is 125 and with F-4's is over 60, all including knocking down MiG-23's,MiG-25,mirages and other russian toys.
