Most people by now have heard the chilling details of the BTK Killer. Just do a Google search for BTK, and you can get as many links as you want. His absolute premeditation, his lack of emotion while describing his killings, especially when he talked about how he killed children. For instance.

cnn.com

Rader first killed the girl's parents in their bedroom as she and her 9-year-old brother, Joseph Jr., watched. He then dragged the boy to his room, wrapped two T-shirts around his head and covered it with a plastic bag; Rader pulled up a chair and watched as the boy struggled on his bed and rolled onto the floor, where he died, said Larry Thomas, a KBI special agent.

Thomas said Rader told authorities he then prepared for his "encore" -- killing Josephine. Rader escorted the girl to the basement of the family home, removing her clothing along the way and rubbing her. He had already prepared a noose around a basement sewer pipe.

"As he walked her over toward that position, he first asked for a camera because he wanted to take a picture. She responded that she did not have a camera. She then asked, 'What's going to happen to me?'

"And he told her that she would soon be in heaven with the others."

A gag was placed in her mouth and he hoisted her with the noose. As she writhed, Rader masturbated, Thomas said.

Some stupid loophole in the law means that he cannot be given the death penalty. Give me one reason. ONE reason why this man who describes his killing of innocent people with relish, should not be executed immediately?

From what I've heard his life will probably be short-lived once he gets to prison because he's a child killer. I'm fairly sure the other prisoners will be given some kind of incentive by someone to take care of this guy. According to something I heard on CNN the other day, he knows what his prospects look like in prison and that's why he's acting more like a cold, calculating "monster" now. I think the psychologist said he was trying to make himself out to be a "hitman".

Peace

Well, I'm against the death penalty. So there's one reason.
I'm also against loophles, so I understand your frustration.

But I think he should be forced to live in uncomfortable surroundings for the rest of his life, perhaps with child's laughter softly piped into his cell 24/7, interrupted by the occassional blood curdling scream. And there should be beautiful posters of the people he killed appearing around him all day long.

I think he shouldn't be able to earn a law degree or order a pizza or work out in the gym or have any contact with the outside world. I think we should start punishing people who are in prison for punative reasons and then maybe people would think twice before being so willing to do some time in the joint.

I know it sounds harsh and I'm against torture, but we do baby our prisoners to the point that 'doing time' is just a little inconvenience to some of these people. And I don't think that's working.

I respect your position, however I believe this sick S.O.B. would get off on that. He masturbated while hearing real screams, and gurgling of children he was strangling. He took pictures to "get himself off" at later times.
I truly believe that he should be shot like a rabid dog. Take the money that is being spent on this farce of a trial and give it to the public school system.
A bullet costs what, a buck?

This man would should have been an abortion, since he wasnt, and made so many suffer, i think a dark place with no human contact would be just the thing. But really, if they put him to death, his misery would end.
If he lives, being in a deep dark hole would probably make him happy. Just him and Satan forever...what a deal...

if we kill him, aren't we just more like him ? Does the thrill or enjoyment or satisfaction from his suffering only lead us down the same path ?

Don't get me wrong, I have a 5 YO daughter. I've told my wife, if I ever land in jail it will be because of something I do to anyone that harms a hair on her head. I'm not a macho guy, Its a dad thing. Ask any dad you know with a girl, they'll tell you the same thing.

My point is, as a society, how can we say killing is wrong, but the penalty for killing is killing ?

The best punishment I can think of is to put him in solitary confinement for the rest of his life so his urges and needs will destroy him for us.

Oh, I'm not married to that course of action, it's just the first thing I came up with. I'm sure a dark, cold hole would work just as well. I'm just saying there are fates worse than death. And from what I've heard, this guy deserves them.

I have tried to avoid his story because it nauseates me, so I'm probably not the best to come up with proper punishment, but I'm sure there are those who are.

I am in the same frame of mind as you. I too have young children, and if anyone hurts them, they'd better hope that the law gets to them before I do. I disagree with the premise of "fate worse than death". Why? Want to teach him a lesson? For what purpose? Even if he got the barest of essentials, it still costs you and I money in tax dollars. Just kill him. It's not barbaric. I don't justify murder. I do not advocate torture, or violence. That being said I do believe in "reap what you sow". Read up on this sicko. He took a womans body to the church, put her corpse in various bondage positions, and took photos for his "sexual release". I am offended that he is allowed to breathe the same air as the rest of us do.
Kill him.

Let him sit in the pen a few months.

Remember what happened to Dahmer?

I could live with that, however you watch, he's going to be in a protected cell block so that the general prison population can't get to him, which costs even more money. Kill him, get it over with.

He's going to be a 'high risk' inmate, but that doesn't necessarily mean that other prisoners won't be able to get to him. Remember the catholic priest that got beaten to death? I think he was 'high risk' as well. Where I could see the priest getting special treatment, I can't figure out why Rader would deserve the same. Aren't there other serial killers walking around in the general population?

Peace

Charles Manson, amongst many others are in the "protected" areas. He's another piece of garbage who should be reckoned with. After all, all he did was carve up Sharon Tate and her unborn child like a bar of soap, so he deserves to be protected. Cut me a break.
These people have NO rights. None.

One sick psychotic sicko. I have kids and I agree with Syrix. If somebody touches MY kid, they're mine. No question. I'd take my chances in court. Paradoxically, seemingly, I also do not believe in the death penalty.

Lock him up forever, relentless monotony, the bare minimum of human contact, suicide watch to make sure he doesnt kill himself to escape. Make sure he falls down the occasional flight of stairs.

If he gets sick treat everything but the pain.

Make him suffer.
Society needs revenge as well as justice. And revenge should never be as simple as death.

Reason:

If givent the death penalty, he will sit, protected for years and years. Given excellent medical treatment and seperation from general population. If hes given life, he will be in GP with the rest of societies dregs.

bottom line" He'll die quicker in general population than on death row. And it aint gonna be a nice one either.......

He thanked all and critiqued all...what a mental case.
He's had his moment of fame on TV now.
I'm sure it was all worth it to this monster.

I wonder if he's going to have that same detached look on his face while he's being sodomized repeatedly by a whole cell block?

The part about the little girl and the camera is just too much.

Peace

These life sentences need a stipulation- after the convict's death, their brain must be analyzed for anomalies. Perhaps they can then serve a purpose.

Screw this guy he has no second chance at society so why let him die in prison in 30 years, lets just get him to hell now. Plus I do not want to waste one penny of my tax dollars to keep this @#$@#%@$@% alive in prison. If we aren't going to fry him then I volunteer to have my tax money used as a bounty on his head in prison. First inmate that wacks him gets the cash. Who is with me on that one.

Or we could give the gun to that one girl who walked in after he had just tortured and killed her parents and siblings. I think we know how quickly that trigger would be pulled. If she can't aim it right I will help. Better yet, lets send him oversees too those Asian countries that have the crazy laws like if you chew gum then you get clubbed. They would have no mercy on the guy after they found out what he did. I would pay good money to watch that on Pay-pre-view.

Can I hear an AMEN! I could not have said it better myself. I hope more people get over this over the top P.C. crap. He didn't just kill someone. He killed families in ways that are so gross and twisted, that he doesn't even deserve to be called alive. He is Satans spawn, and he should be dead - NOW.
