IRA Colombian Suspects Back In Ireland (moved from ATSNN)

Three Irishmen, convicted in Colombia of training guerilla fighters, have secretly returned to the Irish Republic. The three men, who all continue to deny any wrongdoing, apparently fled Colombia while on bail, following the reversal of a previous acquital.



With current attitudes to 'terrorism' around the world as they are one would expect pressure to be exerted upon these people to be returned to Colombia to serve their sentences.

The Irish government has been put in a potentially very difficult situation, and they must be seen to act decisively against terrorists, particularly those people that export their craft to foreign lands.

Sinn Fein/IRA themselves must also show that they have truely renounced violence and are willing to follow a completely lawful path by encouraging these men to return to face the Colombian judicial system.

At least they won't set foot in either NI or the Mainland - then the Police service would be under an obligation to arrest them for extradition - if they didn't then it would be obvious to all that a dirty deal was done.
