If I'm not mistaken (and that never happens...
), the idea is that God is a collective Conciousness, and we are all but facets of that Conciousness, and when our physical bodies expire, we "absorb" back into It. It's been put to me (and it makes sense) like this: Picture a screen or a sheet of metal. Now imagine that there are holes permeating the screen, each one unique. There is a light behind the screen, and the light is God. We are the holes. As the light passes through the hole, it casts a pattern on the wall. The pattern is created by the light shining through the hole, see? So while the shape of the pattern is determined by the hole itself, it is still just an expression of that Light, or God.

(Please forgive me for butchering your example...
)

So that might sound a little convoluted, but I tried.
