This story wasn't all that interesting at first since it appeared that shortly afterwards the man in question was freed, but today we found things didn't quite turn out that way.

Condoleezza Rice was visiting Iraq in mid-May. Something positive had to show up in the news there to make her stay look better. Didn't turn out that way though.

Either

A) The news of his release were bogus, which is improbable since many peope knowing him (journalists, colleages, relatives) could verify them.
or
B) was indeed released after a loyalty shift, then killed by US forces
