ATS Point Ideas

Hello all. I just kinda started this new topic, and then I lost all when I hit the post button. My other post was a lot more enthuseastic, so just try to slide that in: I started to think of uses for ATS points, and I thought that the points could be used as a currency, to be traded among members and mods alike. Moderators (only if they feel like it) could have their own ATS stores for accumualting ATS points, to be purchased by members. For example, Jak could sell his great avatars (sorry for using you a an example) And other mods could have stores to fit their skills ( you guys are mods for reasons:up.
Yeah, well thats one Idea. I'd like to here others, and I would like to know wether or not ATS is ready for such modifications and wether or not they're wanted (I'll probaably look at this later and think I'm crazy)

Buying and selling avatars? It's an interesting idea....but what else could we sell/trade? Signatures? Usernames? Perhaps use them to purchase membership time...kinda like a freebie program. 1000 points gives you 24hrs of access to the fee paying members area....
This might encourgage breaking into the system to gain more points....or stealing points so could be a bad thing for the site to do so.

Dont ask to be one. You ask and they automactially dis-qualify you for modship.

oh ok. I'm gonna edit that part out of my question. And I also thought of one other thing: ATS point gambling!!!

cool idea, but there are evil loop holes, as there are in most things.

for example: (free point handouts)

newbie bob: hey bill, wanna "buy" this pixel of the colour red for 1000 pts?

bob's "secret friend" bill who has lots of points: yea sure, infact, i'll give you 5000 pts for it, welcome to ATS!

summary: and over exaggerated example that invites unruly and unfair mojo.

if the sales had to be pre-approved, then perhaps, but that would require a heavy dose of MOD juice to be inserted into this engine we like to call ATS.

Well, I'm pretty sure that if the mods considered this, these ideas wil be added too and revised................(the dots are to make sure this isn't a one liner)

Edit: I coulda swore I started this thread in ats board questions and bussiness..... some mod moved this and didn't u2u about it.... a conspiracy......

it'd be neat, i'll give you that. i for one am really looking forward to the next step ATS goes with regarding the point system.

I think the gambling could be fun. Maybe have a high score list...most points...and then a "pure" high score just of posts points.

Hey MODS!!! What do you think? Can we do this?

I like the creative the ideas! ATS has changed quite a bit in the past, so I am totally up to ideas that would be aproved by the mods.

Though I do think that trading points is wrong...We get points at ATS for denying ignorance...not making Avatars (sorry JAK) Therefore, one should not get points for making an Avatar as it is not denying ignorance. I am always open to creative ideas though, but I feel that I may have a minority opinion...

Alternatively, you could learn to make your own avatars. That could be cool.

Points do NOT equal dollars. You start trading in points for money, you become a totally different site. There are plenty of places for that sort of thing, just look through your pop ups. ATS is NOT a casino. Our motto is Deny Ignorance not Gimme yer points! If you wanna gamble, I suggest going through those pop ups again, or even trying yahoo games. (it's cheaper). We don't want unsavory people here to rake in the 'cash', increasing the noise-to-signal ratio significantly. Besides, any cash payout is impossible. ATS does NOT make money. Also, in order to gamble, there are plenty of laws about age minimums. It'd be a shame to lose so many of our younger members...

You want ATS memorabilia? I suggest you learn to sew, or get a shirt custom made.

I can't see why members can't transfer points to someone else for giving them a hand on something. Say, they explain a particulary complex theory and put it into plain English. The member could then thank them by sending say 50 points to them.
