Ousted Taliban remnants have killed a senior Afghan provincial official several days after kidnapping him, a Taliban spokesman said today.
Sarajuddin, chief of Zabul's power and water department, was killed after a group of Taliban seized him two days ago outside the town of Qalat, Zabul's provincial capital, the spokesman said.

The murder was confirmed by a local police official.

With spring and warmer temperatures in the whole area, i feel that the militants are now re-emerging and these attacks will increase. And they will focus on rebuilding services and the new Afghani government infrastructure.

To deny the population the most basic of 'needs' will only create more confusion.
