Wait, you're now telling us that this information was in the hands of the Trump DOJ since September, 2019, but the Trump DOJ did nothing about it for
one and a quarter years? INCONCEIVABLE!
How much of the DOJ was appointed by Trump, all the while the USA was powerless to stop a Russian Trump Collusion “investigation” based on nothing
but lies. Thanks for providing another angle why Democrats needed the distraction of the bogus Russian Trump Collusion “investigation”.
Let's see, the head of the DOJ was appointed by Trump, as were most of the various US attorneys, likely their higher-up underlings. Oh yeah, and the
head of the FBI, as well as his higher-up underlings because Trump fired most of those that were in place when he took office or within the first six
months.
Do you really not know the reason that Trump couldn't stop the CFH and Mueller investigations? His first AG, Jeff Sessions, recused himself because
there was evidence that he had possibly been involved in the Russian-Trump campaign affair, including his lying to Congress, under sworn testimony,
that he hadn't had any contact with Russian officials during the campaign, when it was proven that he had. So his assistant, who his chief of staff
put was made acting AG, while Rod Rosenstein, a career DOJ official, was put in charge of making decisions concerning the CFH investigation, and then
appointed Mueller to continue the investigation. This was early on in Trump's presidency when a lot of career DOJ and FBI people were still in upper
management. By late 2019, Trump had kicked out most of the higher-up people in the DOJ and FBI and other departments whom he felt weren't loyal to
him. And by loyal I mean do his bidding.
By the time Mueller report had come out, Trump had already replaced his former AG with Bill Barr, who came out with a statement refuting the Mueller
report several days before it was released to the public. So even by then his lackeys in the DOJ were doing his bidding. And why was Michael Cohen
charged by the Trump DOJ for funneling hush money from the Trump campaign to Stormy Daniels, yet Trump wasn't brought up for the same crimes, or at
least given a criminal referral for it for after he left office? Because by then Trump's lackeys were in power and career officials were lying
low.
So your argument/claim lacks any substance or merit, not to mention logic. How would the the powerlessness of the "USA" -- not the USA, but the
Trump DOJ and FBI -- to stop a Russia-Trump collusion investigation necessitate the Democrats to have the distraction of such an investigation. Never
mind that it wasn't collusion that was being investigated -- that's what Trump called it -- it was about Russian efforts to affect the outcome of the
election and possible coordination of Russia and the Trump campaign. Not enough evidence was found to prove a conspiracy between Russia and the Trump
campaign, but multiple members of Trump's campaign were found guilty of various crimes, including acting as a foreign agent without registering to do
so. It was also found that Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager, had given a foreign national with ties to the Kremlin Trump campaign polling data
in 19 swing states. It was also found that Jared Kushner had tried to establish a secret communication channel through the Russian embassy between
the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. It was also found that during the 2016 campaign Don Jr. meant with a Russian agent who had offered dirt on
HRC.
And although no charges of conspiracy with Russia were ever made against the Trump campaign, Trump and his campaign had stonewalled the Mueller
investigation to the point that Mueller had made referrals for obstruction of justice against Trump and his team, but made it clear that charges could
not be brought against the president while in office, as per DOJ policy, but said rather that it was up to congress to possibly impeach Trump for this
obstruction of justice. Given that both branches of congress were controlled at the time by a Trump-compliant GOP, this wasn't going to happen.
Really you need to do better than just throw out buzzwords like "lies" and "bogus" regarding the DOJ investigations, and you most certainly can't
blame the Democrats for the Mueller investigation. You can, however, blame it on Trump for the unwarranted and without cause firing of James Comey.
Previously FBI heads were sacked only when there was evidence of wrong doing by them. And the only wrongdoing by Comey was how he went against DOJ
policy in publicly announcing the re-investigation of HRC in Oct. 2016, which likely cost her the election. All Comey did with respect to Trump was
let the CFH investigation continue, i.e. no interfere in it, notify Trump privately of what was found in the Steele dossier, and fail to swear his
fealty to Trump. FBI directors are not suppose to swear loyalty to anyone, but rather just to upholding the US constitution and its other laws. And
keep in mind that the FBI did not publicly announce the CFH investigation until well after the 2016 election, so they had a double standard in how
they treated investigations of Trump and HRC.
So enough with your false claims that the Democrats were conspiring with the DOJ and the FBI to get Trump. And before you attempt to bring up the
Durham report, let me remind you once again that the CFH investigation was not premised on the Steele dossier, but on other information the FBI had
and which still holds up to this day.
