Looks like trying to bump off world leaders, might be a step too far, XI calls Zelinsky in what appears to be a last-ditch effort to make peace. it does seem to be that play nice might be coming to an end. Targeting a head of state seems to be a dangerous move as it means the rules of the game have changed. Canadian Prepper seems to have a few contacts that tend to support what's going on.

Didn't Russian forces (under Putin) try, at least once to assassinate Zelenskyy near the start of the war?

Rapid "decapitation" of the Ukrainian government was one of the original Russian objectives, as I recall.

Maybe it was that Russian guy in a tank who mercilessly and with bloodlust tried to kill a civilian with his tank, which was actually a Ukrainian In their own tank?? Putin has been targeted personally since he threatened to chuck nukes out of the pram which is well know.

Not quite sure some fellow in a car bumping his gums about drone attacks, and what Russia might do, constitutes proof of an "assassination" "attempt" all the same.

Why should people like Putin not be targeted?

They condemn tens of thousands of ordinary people to death, both their own and other nation's and they expect to be kept out of it?

Either Russia is holding extreme restraint from nato crossing their red lines, or Russian just ain’t capable of a retaliation other than threatening use of nukes.

That was the goal of most wars in ancient times, to kill the other side's power base, leaders or king.

However, the idea is that in modern warfare killing the other side's leader won't bring the war to an end and may even prolong the conflict.

All it may serve to achieve is to possibly create a martyr, where the second-in-command will simply step in to take their place.

Who may even be less accommodating towards bringing about a peaceful resolution to the conflict or even willing to escalate the situation further.

Putin is breaking all the rules through, he wants to be the next Joseph Stalin by the looks of things and return the Russian Federation to something reminiscent of the former USSR.

Which is not apt to bode well for Europe, the world, and even his own people.

i agree, old farty has delusions of grandeur and the wants to be remembered as the greatest leader that russia under any form of government has ever had and will stop at nothing to achieve it.

that or he and zelensky are playing their part for putting us on the path for eating ze bugs, i'm kinda torn there lol. but i lean more towards the first.

If Putin dies he will leave a huge power vacuum and the military will be forced to take over. Then it will snow ball downhill from there.

That's what happens when you snuff out political opposition, even those who align with you. Putin and the oligarchs were a result of a former power vacuum that just vanished one day pretty much, democracy never caught up in Russia.
