You should read what he said, because that provides context. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan would be as catastrophic as the current attempted invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

He was not saying is that you can justify Russia's actions against Ukraine.

If China really wants to take Taiwan, now is probably better than later, while the us has a weak leader, troubles recruiting in the military, woke weak leaders, fiasco in Sudan, and spending billions on a war that’s not theirs, China is ahead in the game already. The us can’t afford spending more on the other side of the planet. But then again this all could be some sort of rigged fleecing of the world.
