The idea behind this thread is recalling things from earlier years that we don't see anymore.

I'll kick off.

Trading stamps: Used to be very common at food stores.

ETA: And these. Are these back in style yet because I am pretty sure I still have about 20 pairs in a box somewhere...

Premiums at gas stations for getting a full tank of gas! I can remember pretty green drinking glasses.
And the attendant used to check your oil & wash your windshield while your tank was filling up! They wore spiffy uniforms & greeted you with a smile & were friendly & personable! I sure miss those days! We actually do have one station left that still pumps your gas for you. Same price as the gas at other stations too. I always tip if I go there. I’m old & appreciate not having to do it myself anymore!

I can remember bath towels & dishes coming in boxes of powdered laundry detergent. Cereal bowls & mugs in the cardboard canisters of oatmeal too! Hard to believe that they could give those things away & still make a profit! But back then, CEO’s probably weren’t making millions per year either!

This magic symbol used to be found on lots of schools.
Back then we were more worried about nuclear war.
The fear of being shot by a fellow American never
crossed our minds.

Well Ithought that the Milkman had gone extinct.
But apparently, he has survived in some parts of New York state.
Business actually got better because of covid.

Ha! Cigarette vending machines.

These were still a thing in Germany when I was a kid, the American kids thought the idea was great.

I remember cigarette vending machines being everywhere, I was just a wee little lad in those days though so never used them.

Peace
