So far, the Obama admin has refused to provide lethal aid, fearing that it would only escalate the bloodshed and give Vladimir Putin of Russia a pretext for further incursions

The Ukraine debacle proves that the government isn't working on behalf of the people. It's been that way for a long time. Our infrastructure is crumbling, but Zelensky and his band of Merry Grifters get a blank check.
Does the government represent the people?
Biden signed into law the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in November of 2021. It was passed on a bipartisan basis and authorizes spending 1.2 Trillion dollars over the next decade for infrastructure upgrade.
3% for Ukraine. Hardly a blank check.

By contrast, the US has provided about 35 Billion dollars worth of military assistance to Ukraine, to date. Military assistance to Ukraine is also passed on a bipartisan basis:

So, about 97% for infrastructure, 3% for Ukraine. Hardly a blank check.
Since the war began, the Biden administration and the U.S. Congress have directed more than $75 billion in assistance to Ukraine, which includes humanitarian, financial, and military support, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German research institute.Â
Still, Ukraine has requested certain advanced equipment, such as fighter aircraft, that the United States and other donor governments have been unwilling to provide, worried that doing so could escalate the war. NATO allies are particularly wary of being pulled directly into the hostilities, which would dramatically raise the risk of a nuclear war. However, as the fighting has progressed, they have steadily shed their reluctance to give Ukraine more sophisticated assets, such as battle tanks.

US will fight to the last Ukrainian
I am not sure who keeps voting for sen Lindsey Graham from South Carolina.
But this is the one who said that Ukrainians will fight Russians to the last men.
