I suppose sabotaging North Stream's pipelines wasn't such a novel idea.

Europe is may requiring increased LNG imports from the US to meet energy demands. But in my opinion, Europe already had cheaper energy from Russia.

Even with increased LNG imports from the US, its very unlikely that Europe could meet the same demands as before.

Europe’s Energy Troubles Continue: Hydro And Nuclear Output Declining

When you switch off your main gas to renewable energy, it comes to a price.

Droughts were severe in Europe last year. They threatened major trade routes such as the Rhein in Germany and the Po in Italy. And they also caused severe declines in hydropower electricity output. For example, in Spain, hydropower output dropped by almost half because of the droughts. All this might repeat this year as well.

Although Nord Stream was never opened so not really a loss , Putin's actions made it obsolete before the sabotage.

But in my opinion, Europe already had cheaper energy from Russia.

Yes they did and what a mistake that turned out to be , silly Europe.

Relying on LNG from the US is even more stupid, given the distance and the higher prices and given the crazy ignorant anti-fossil fuel eco-freak ideologues running the White House

We in the UK get most of our gas from Norway so we aren't reliant on the US.

It was a loss for Europe and Europeans.
As they are finding that now with the food prices and prices of domestic goods.

Europe is paying double the price for American LNG gas

There was a reason for Europe to trade with Russia for their cheaper Energy.

Its a loss, loss for Europe in a huge way.

A huge win for East Asia and India.

India is far beating the economy of Europe by the longest shot.

Hmm you mean like how some Euporean Countries are still buying Russian cheaper energy despite the silly sanctions?

Looks like those Euporean Countries are far more smarter than their American occupational Imperialist colonist

Norway is not a gas station giant like Russia, China, Saudis are.

That is a major difference.

Europe Gas Prices Signal Lingering Worry on Next Winter’s Supply

Europe's gas problems are just to begin this year.

Last year winter' was mild almost everywhere. Because of the mild winter, that mild winter.

That mild winter caused droughts in Italy and lack of water in some provinces.

The British tried on blackmailing India by letting them have the F36s and a few modern jets if they stop buying Russia's energy.

Why would need India those useless expensive jet fighters that keep crashing?

We Brits didn't freeze to death. Sorry to disappoint.

We'll be just fine, thanks.

It was a loss for Europe and Europeans.

That's a problem for the EU , as we are no longer a part of the EU I have sympathy with their predicament and wish them luck.

There was a reason for Europe to trade with Russia for their cheaper Energy.

Yeah , compliance although Putin pushed it a little to far by invading Ukraine so not even the EU could let that slip.

The energy problem is more a North and Central Europe problem, as those were the countries that relied more in Russian gas.

South European countries like Portugal imported mostly from North Africa, so we were not directly affected by the closing of the Russian gas supply.

At the end of the day, Russia has no market for its goods across Europe.

The horrific war that Russia chose to start in Ukraine has forced a shift in energy economics across Europe and the world. The Europeans have been able to resolve shortages and weather the storm. Germany and a couple of other nations who had become wilfully dependent on cheap gas from Russia were forced to pay the cost for their short-termism and poor choices.

While European nations will move on and prosper, the Russians won't be able to, as the Russian economy is trashed for a generation, or more, as once prosperous markets have gone.

Russia, economically illiterate for a hundred years, or more.
