No she wasn't. Greeks are known to have an "olive" skin tone, which is similar to a light skinned middle easterner we see today. Then Persian and Iranian, not white.

Netflix is simply catering to the same crowd that the designers are suddenly catering to -
There are some designers who hawk their apparel on certain tv stations, stating continually that they are all 'inclusive'.
Well I have no problem with everyone being represented and included, we all want to see ourselves portrayed in this clothing, especially at designer prices. But now I find I am being excluded, which is a problem for me - I watch my weight, exercise as much as possible, am 5' 6" and average body shape. Yet the only models I see showing clothing are majorly plus size models - so it is very obvious to me who they are selling to, and designing their clothing for.
I hate to say this, but I see this more and more, print ads rarely show blondes anymore, as if we just don't exist and are of no concern.
This is just the last few years, and I have made up my mind that if I cannot be represented by 'designers', then I will take my business elsewhere.

My husband and I are both of Polish, German and British descent -
I am very fair and blonde, he is olive-skinned with black hair.
So we only actually know our recent ancestry, and without complete dna information, don't have the complete picture.

I'll wait for Michael Caine as Shaka Zulu.

The good thing about Cleopatra's time was that you could count on the fingers of a man with no hands, how many people in the world cared what her exact skin tone or ethnicity was.
