There do seem to be unanswered questions.

I understand that he was an IT specialist, and that part of his job might have entailed access to classified data.

But, doesn't "data", in the IT sense at least, imply electronic data? Not actual paper hardcopies of classified documents? Documents that were folded up, secreted off base, photographed on a cell phone, and then uploaded to an internet chat-room?

What is this, 1990?

OTOH,

What better way to establish a "disavowed" counterintelligence operative than to have him appear to be "martyred" for "foolishly, if innocently, exposing his country's aggregious military secrets"?

He worked in networking. Switches and connectivity. He had no clearance.

The main question to me is who gave him the documents.

I just read he was given a Top Security Clearance -- I think in 2021.

Doesn't mean its true -- just cuz I read it.

Exactly. The reports specifically claim that the leaked documents appear to be pictures of physical documents.
So, our IT guy opened the files, printed them off, then took pictures and smuggled those out? Versus just downloading the files and taking them?

Sorry, I'm not buying it. This kid's a patsy. Possibly a willing one, because my suspicions are that high-level people in the Pentagon arranged for this leak in the hopes of getting the US to pull out of Ukraine before we start WWIII.

RE: www.breitbart.com...

This was an ingenious setup, that has "set the stage" for what's coming.

The US Intel and Mil and Law Enforcement agencies are calling the intentionally leaked intelligence, "Catastrophic".

President Biden however, says the leak is no big deal because nothing big was revealed.

Why? Because he has done FAR WORSE than publish classified documents online.

There will be NO WAY to defend the fact of Joe Biden selling Intel for $$$, once Special Counsel HUR reveals his crimes.

WATCH!

This could also explain why the New York times was ostensibly ahead in the investigation to who and where the leaker was. The Biden's are a shady. Hillary Clinton’s got nothing on Joe Biden.

some networking guys/gals do regular work in classified areas so they need to have a clearance.

Heck I had to get a TS to take a job that is basically just IT help desk.

Lots of people like to brag that they have a TS clearance. When in fact they know as much as on the news.

It's Hollywood ignorance. People think it adds some 'value' to your status... You can have all the 'clearance' you like... without access it has no value at all, let alone as ego-fodder.

My question/s? If he took it upon himself, was it a close thine eyes and pull a handful? Or were they specifically chosen? And why? And if he’s a patsy? Whom was it and why those specific docs?

*shrugs* it adds value to my resume, getting that clearance is expensive some companies will hire people purely off their clearance level figuring they can train you to do the job and assume you had some sort of ability or someone wouldnt have spent that money on 1 person.

I could get to a point where I see and learn all kinds of stuff, *shrugs* dont see a reason to that typically involves lots of meetings and power point presentations, and I hate that stuff.

And many of the individual 'bits' are as mundane as can be. The only reason they're kept under wraps is that, as a collective of 'bits', they could be threatening to aspects of national security.

As you write, (shrugs).

The other side of it beyond the gawd awful briefings, everybody that had access to what got leaked spent hours being questioned I would wager, last place you want to be is in those rooms with agents desperate to find someone to blame.

Considering how poor our Cyber security is (let alone the insider threats), the money isnt worth the risk.

Oh yeah, that had to be LOADS of fun. The kind of interviews where one is made to feel guilty even in cases where they're not.

Cheers

Ex spy Naveed Jamali has view that it wasn’t his clearance, but access to network .

@NaveedAJamali

I have no idea how the system really works, can being just IT person mean some guy have access to secret stuff ?

Anywhere they have a computer there are times you will need an IT guy, or a network/switch guy, and at that point it all depends on the people working with the secret stuff to secure it properly.

Wrong questions are being asked, he never should have been able to walk out of a secured area with classified papers.

A list of regulations had to be violated for him to be able to do that, my schooling and training always said the same thing.

When it comes to security the people are the weakest link, you can only do so much with technology, regulations, and threats.

If someone is lazy things will be at risk to an insider threat.

Agree, maybe he used those tiny memory sticks to get the material out from the base area ?
