JagStorm I watched this a few times at work today and could not believe my eyeballs. There has to be an astroid or something coming. We had to have gone to a different reality when Cern opened a portal or something. This is disgusting and I think you are spot on about protecting your children.

We also have to bear in mind that it could all be CGI or some such mind games. I looked at the MSN news this morning and it said Putin was planning to invade Japan.It does seem to be high in the BS levels at the moment, no doubt for distraction purposes.

I actually wondered if this was a hoax, or propaganda, but unfortunately nothing shocks me when it comes to the ultra powerful/famous and deviant behavior… I’d almost be more shocked if they were actually normal decent people.

I am 30 years old, but led a largely sheltered life during youth, then a thoroughly isolated one for over 10 years, which makes me remote from almost everything controversial, from Trump to BLM to Covid/vaccines. None of it affects me personally. I only get myself involved if the case is peculiar.

I already pointed out that it wasn't part of the proper Tibetan greeting. Again, it's not in my interest to waste time defending people or their behavior.

I'm just proposing different perspectives. A few commenters elsewhere suggested the Dalai Lama could be going senile. (Not mental illness)

At the very least, people should take the time to somewhat familiarize themselves with the Tibetan mentality before jumping to conclusions. Why didn't the other Tibetans in his midst react, are they all approving of such public acts?

Scandals like this are actually commonplace, but they only seem to matter if it involves important persons, public figures or celebrities.

A modern work which confirms early 20th century research on on Tibetan customs would be Humble Before the Void by Chris Impey. For instance, the Tibetans have a fondness for consuming excess amount of butter and they prefer rotting meat as a delicacy, after removing the maggots... which would make westerners sick.

I went camping with the boy scouts at 15 deg & 2' of snow no tents building shelters to keep an eye on my kids. Had to take a dump Sunday morning and declared the campout finished.

This is one of those stories that shocked me at first, but immediately after that initial shock, I realised it shouldn't have shocked me at all.

Firstly, it is well known in some circles that the Buddhist monks make use of the small boys sent to their temples by poor parents who want them to receive an education/training in being a monk, often because they cannot afford to look after them. The boys are used unapologetically as catamites by the senior monks until their adolescence, when they are trained as monks -and the cycle continues. There is no overt morality teaching in the sense of what we would expect as Western Christians, the idea of catamites just isn't shocking to Buddhist monks in the same way it would be shocking to Christians, or legacy Christian societies. The culture accepts the practice of paedophilia far more than one might expect.

Secondly, there was a thread some years ago which I have brought up here & there because it is an excellent expose of what goes on in Tibetan Buddhism beyond this practice of paedophilia, specifically regarding the use of spiritual abuse, telepathy & other psycic means to bully & abuse people within the 'fellowship', even in Western countries this goes on in the Tibetan Buddhism cultural centres, which have meditation communes, for example. The thread was written by a whistleblower, and was full of explicit information about what's really going on within that religion. You can read it here:

As for the Dalai Lama, I don't think there's an easy way back from this one, it was blatant sexual activity with a child, on camera, into the microphone, in English. Perhaps he's getting a touch of dementia & forgot that everyone would notice what he said, perhaps he forgot about the microphone, and so on. But still, there seems likely to be a residual backlash for some time to come. I have been counselled in my dreams that Buddhism at its core is occult, in a very bad way. If you've ever seen the video of the Oracle they consult, you'll know that it looks very much like demonic possession.

Not good, not good at all.

Because in every culture, it's disturbing. Knowing that there are people who think this is ok is equally disturbing. Trying to justify it is probably a warning sign that shouldn't be taken lightly.

The closest thing you have, just like the media is trying desperately to save face and protect the 'penicle of truth' or some BS like that, is the little tidbit about it being a greeting or some pleasantry to stick out your tongue at people.

Read it carefully... They said that sticking your tongue out can be a greeting or some BS. They did NOT say anything about putting tongues in mouths!

Ok. dumb people aside. Sticking out your tongue is playful. As children, you know it can be both rude and playful. In any and every language, putting your tongue in someone's mouth is sexual! Period!

I bet if you do this to a child on the street anywhere in Tibet, you will be put in prison and subjected to whatever laws that have against pedophiles.

You should seek help. There is an underlying tone here that's quite obvious.

I didn't convey that I thought it was ok, just that I don't make a huge fuss over it. I had already monitored discussions elsewhere about this controversy and perceived the predictable direction this topic would take, so I decided to spice it up a little. You may have a point that I'm warped and twisted, but not for the right reasons.

I have absolutely no interest in pedophilia. If the individual in question were the Pope, I wouldn't have gotten involved in the first place. I'd have stood by and watched as people tore him apart.

I’m sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to the Catholic bashing part of the post. As far as the Orthodox Jewish practices, I know very little. If that’s their ritual, then they have been doing it for thousands of years. Also, they believe it is a directive from their God. I seriously doubt there is anything sexual about it. Why would you think so?
