Yes to all...in fact the old white guys everyone loves to hate who acknowledged our rights to those things in the highest law in the land...lived in a time where civilians could own cannons if they could afford them. That was the highest bestest gun of the age. In fact our navy began as privately owned ships...

Theres an interview with Justice Scalia floating around somewhere, in it he goes into the 2nd.

He describes how the second amendment as written describes that firearms in the peoples hands were already a foregone conclusion. The wording of "shall not be infringed," shall not being indicative of an already well established practice when the documents were penned.

Its why I can be persuaded to allow for public availability of say nuclear weapons.

Sure...if you can find one to buy...or can assemble the people and equipment necessary to make your own go for it. How many people does that cover...a fraction of a percent maybe...

Flip side....not sure I actually want anyone including governments to own anything that can prematurely end our time occupying the planet lol.

Edit...something something Pandora's Box...

Conflating what the Constitution says and what we want it to say is a slippery slope that got us to where we are today.

Now I agree with you, even though I can make a pretty good argument against, that nukes in the public and private sphere isnt a good thing. But the Constitution doesnt say anything against it. Infact, there is a process where we could add that amendment should we wish.

Wholeheartedly can get behind this...it might be one of the few times I would actually advocate for an amendment. And you are very correct slippery as hell and the wording is very clear.

Agreed. However at this junction of history, i wouldnt trust the representatives to act or behave on the peoples behalf

Hell, look at the bills or any of the omnibus as an example.

then you should know/understand what the 2A was for and that an Ar-15 is hardly a massive killer in the united states.

They could easily (thanks to the msm) get a model specific ban through, but they are to impatient and instead want it all or nothing in one go.
You don’t see the whole picture. I agree mainstream media gets goofy on gun violence truths . Yet Gen Z is to no fault of their own raised by machines & their emotional IQs are the worst seen in a generation.
Gen Z suicide is 1400% higher than any other generation before it .
Unfortunately there is going to be a rise in emotional shootings & random violence.
Boys who can’t get laid & have TikTok as a moral guide are dangerous in ways not seen since the Millennials.
Mental Health ( All Healthcare ) is a true mess . Psychiatrist are prescribing anti-depressants & benzos to 16-25 yr olds like candy.
There is no problem with owning a AR 15 or MG42 full auto selector & silencers . You just have to carry a Federal stamp for them .
I say eliminate semiautomatic & make a 3 way selector on each gun : Safe , Single & 3 shot burst.
Carry a federal stamp & that’s all . What is wrong with that ?
Pass laws about secure safe storage when not at home or in vehicle with guns.
Mandatory 5 year Federal background & prints.
Owning an advanced weapon or high capacity semiautomatic rifles is powerful & with that requires great responsibility.
Why not get ahead of the ever growing Gen Z mess coming in the form of gun violence.
Gen Z is a mess & in big trouble. We failed them with boomer avarice & the inverse square from boomers forward of being spoiled.
The woke left makes it worse & Millenials/GenZ don’t want to hear anything from the boomers ( status quo)
Give up the semiautomatics for advanced weapons with Federal stamps ?
Im sure you think Im wrong, but I enjoy shooting sports as well , but something needs to give from the NRA group or within 4-6 years the Millennial & Gen Z vote will take what they want .
Give up what you can control, because wether you or me agree , I think we can agree as Americans that heavy handed laws suck .
There are two stiff necked sides in America & the conservatives by in large follow a Christian vein of morals . So why can’t conservatives hand a olive branch over to the left in the form of semiautomatic rifles ( only) need a stamp all guns forward from a certain date .
Everyone else’s semiautomatic rifles prior to new law are exempt, but upon death the semiautomatics need registration ?
Who knows ? It’s not a good situation & pro gun voices are being overrun by bigger & younger generations.
Set up rock solid gun rules for the future so all Americans can own guns & machine guns , but there needs to be a change in America.
It should be harder than it is to get a semiautomatic rifle with high capacity magazines & 500 rds out the door of a Bass Pro Shop within 2 hrs .

Your solutions only effect law abiding citizens, and you want us to pay for the privilege of failed gun control.

M4/M16 AR15 are all the same minus a different sear in the military ones

More lies? ...k

How about barrel length?
Bolt system?
Firing capability?
Stocks?
Rails?
.....legality?

I owned a FFL & Class 3 licence 20 years ago.

I dont think so Tim.
Who cares about barrel lengths , selector controls, stocks or silencers.
There should be a stamp on all of them just as there is minus the semiautomatic rifle.
It’s time to surrender the semiautomatic to federal regulations.
It’s coming one way or another. Within 5 years the Boomers & Gen X will be out voted by Millennial/GenZ & they will take assault weapons.

There will absolutely no olive branches with respect to ANY civil right.
Those who give up rights for security will have neither.

So should you be able to own a Browning 50 cal full auto ?
Should you be able to own a mini gun gatling gun or how about a MB240 308 full rock n roll without a stamp on any of them ?

Yes.

"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

There are no ifs, ands, or buts beyond that.

The protection from the government reason left in the 80s , because how are you going to stop over the horizon munitions & smart weapons.

Lets ask Afgahnistan.......

Millennials & Gen Z will outnumber Boomer votes by double.

What of these two groups do you belong Mr. Fudd?

Regardless, I see your point and its socialiast roots. The nazis tries it. China tried it. USSR tried it
Im a Gen X born 1967 .
