Yep, they finally ticked me off enough for me to cancel my prime membership.
I know they are terrible, but I’ve enjoyed the convenience. I’m one of those hardheaded people when I say I won’t shop at a place
I really won’t. Here’s what happened.

Short story Amazon sent me wrong item and hasn’t refunded it.

Long story:

I ordered a decorative item, they sent me the opposite color of what I ordered. I contacted them and they said it was a 3rd party seller and to contact them.
I did and they wanted to give me a small discount. I said I wasn’t interested and wanted a refund/replacement. They didn’t respond. I contacted Amazon and they said I was covered in their A-Z guarantee and that I could keep the item and would get a refund it would take 5 business days.
I waited 5 business days and didn’t get a refund. I contacted Amazon again and they assured me I would get a refund and do not send the item.
No refund, and then I message them and they tell me I have to send the item to the 3rd party. I was ticked at this point, and about a month has transpired and I no longer have the item or my refund. Now they want me to send the item back at my own cost! I don’t care about keeping the item as it’s the wrong color and I don’t want it, I don’t want to have to pay for the wrong item sent to me. I don’t care if shipping is a penny, it’s the principal at this point. And waiting for a refund. No thanks! I just disputed it with my credit card. I’m also a skeptical person so I had copied all the messages with Amazon and have proof they told me not to send it. We’ll see what happens.

Amazon got everyone with their free shipping, then they wanted everyone to pay, and now they are going back on their guarantee.
I’ve also found a lot of the items are no longer cheaper. It was good while it lasted but time for me to go back to just buying at the store.

I have a love/hate relationship w the whole thing. We don't own a car and WF is so convenient...it's the only service available in which we get what we want, most of the time as opposed to people breaking, buying wrong stuff that is not refundable or plain stealing by ringing up stuff we'd never buy and then removing it from bags...

Amazon has waves of restrictive action where they won't refund stuff...my husband has quit twice after they refused to refund something. Their ability to deliver is amazing but i guess robotics are displacing loads of workers.

In other news, customer service is on a downhill slide...in fact, people are hating on the adage, "the customer is always right." I worked in customer service for years...people got stranger and stranger...

I feel your frustration w the behemoth...will the world ever go back? AWS is a backbone to the entire planet...

Yep, I have been burned by something similar.

I have received items that have obviously been opened and are missing parts and had to go through the same song and dance.

It’s very dishonest and poor customer service. Why pay for a company to treat you sooo poorly?
That is why I totally stopped going to Walmart and I haven’t missed it at all.

This might be a positive thing overall because I probably spend too much on Amazon because it’s easy to order.

Amazon has gone outright crimninal with power. Let me explain my experience.

I had respect for Amazon as a business in the early days. Unlike other mail order companies, they were smart enough to have all parcels traceable (thereby limiting mail theft.) This also allowed them to trust the customer when we didn't receive an item because it could be traced. I was also impressed with their product reviews and I wrote several myself. Amazon did not appear to censor customer feedback, which was great. Reviewers would be promoted on the site based on how helpful they were. Big reviewers had quite a voice, and had followers. But after a while, this changed. Amazon got greedy and started rewarding those who left positive reviews. Thus, the major reviewers on the site shifted to only leaving positive reviews. What a joke.

The treatment of their staff was troubling. When I tried cancelling my own Amazon Prime I had a LOT of trouble, be warned. I told them point blank by phone and email I wanted to CANCEL. They kept billing me! This is outright theft! I demanded my money back but I don't think they ever refunded me! Outright criminal. I had to change bank info to get rid of them. This was over a year ago and to THIS DAY I still hear from them saying they are having trouble processing my info! More than once I thought this was a scam, until I contacted them and found out they were actually trying to bill me!

Hearing this has me more concerned. I was given an Amazon gift card and now I think it's best just to buy digital media from them, like books from Kindle. I really liked Audible but had to cancel that too. They are tyrannical.

It’s always good to use a credit card for online transactions. You can always give the vendor the opportunity to make things right, but if they drag their feet you can just show the correspondence to the card issuer and dispute it. If you’re not a fan of debt just pay balances off as soon as you’re satisfied with the transaction, but it’s a good buffer from getting screwed by companies.

Sometimes it’s just their bloated bureaucracy that gets in the way, not even malice.

After that, I dont blame you.
I have had many issues - many many - but they all get resolved somehow.
I cannot even tell you the amount of FREE stuff I have ended up with....from "just keep it we will refund" or duplicate items sent. I ordered a new cricut ($300) and now have 2 and paid for neither. One was lost in shipping for weeks. Amazon refunded me and sent out a replacement...then the 2nd one showed up weeks later. I dont know how all of that happened.
I probably should not admit that as I probably just jinxed myelf lol
The same has happened for me with Wayfair. I actually ended up getting free $2000k pair of leather chairs. I kid you not. Their mistake, my win.

I am not even a lucky person. If something can go wrong - it will go wrong for me. But seems Amazon/Wayfair is my only good streak in life. lol

Ummm...as am I...

For today...

I just ordered two front hub assemblies for my F1fiddy...they were one third the price for both front assemblies than for a single one at NAPA...and the shipping was free...

So...I'll replace those...along with two half shafts and the four wheel drive actuators...and save myself about a thousand dollars between parts and labor...

Of course I'll have ingested much libations...YouTube videos...and lungs filled...

For the knuckles busting expelling of many four letter words...natch...

I believe you, I had something very bizarre happen with Wayfair. I was getting furniture sent to me weekly.
Two really nice end tables, and a really cute stand and something else.
I contacted them and there were insistent I ordered them, but I only use 1 cc and nothing was ever charged. I keep meticulous track of my finances so I know for 100% sure they weren’t meant for me.
The shipments did stop though.

Under the price there is a tiny tiny teeny tiny line that tells you if it is sold by Amazon or a 3rd party. I never knew this before, but I guess it doesn’t matter for me as I’m not ordering any more.

Another thing to keep in mind, they did NOT post my review. So now it makes me wonder how many reviews are suppressed now.

Amazon used to be a cheaper and convenient option, but not anymore. I've started comparing prices between Amazon and Walmart when shopping. Walmart always has it cheaper, and they also deliver.

I’m not going from the frying pan to the fire, but I will shop in person at Meijer, Target, etc.
I’ve noticed almost everything is cheaper at Home Depot and Menards than it is now at Amazon. The prices have really gone up and you have to include the cost of prime if you have that.

Just not worth it for me at this point in addition to the hassle.

Amazon has been frustrating me lately too. What I get is a prime item and it is delayed. It happens about fifty percent of the time. Online will say: it's out for delivery. Then that night it didn't come and I look at my account and it is delayed to the next day or that they give me the message if it does not arrive by x date some time in the following week to message them. It will usually come. I also liked to order from fresh and now they charge for grocury delivery. I tip minimum wadge for the driver. This is on me, I know. I pay for prime. It is annoying that I am paying a second time to get things I need. Remember 2 day delivery? That is what I was paying for. You know they should make the prime video and free book thing into a different catagory. I appreciate the workers but Amazon is too much with the dwindling customer service and rising prices. OVER IT! I have been weening myself off and doing more small business. Yes it may cost a little more sometimes, however, I am supporting small business made in America . Most times I find something more unique that is better made.

Amazon... GOIN DOWN!

I'm about at 40% accuracy with Amazon. It's sad that more often than not, my delivery is about as wrong as a Mc Donalds order. I tend to get free stuff a lot because of this but i HATE this with a passion.

Why?

When I buy things, I buy things I need when I buy them. If the delivery says this date, I want it on THIS DATE. I'm not trying to be impossible, it's just that they're being so damn impossible and as accurate as a happy meal on a day.

They're ALWAYS late. Most of the time wrong. It's crazy the things I get...

Order a video card - receive a baby bath
Order rolls of painters tape - receive window repair kit
Order bowden tube for my 3d printer - receive set of 5 cheap digital thermometers that all read differently from one another.

Almost always, instead of a bad review, they rather give you a refund and you keep the item.

Most of the time the item is trash or totally useless. Still, there doesn't seem to be anything in place to correct this so I know SOMEONE is losing a crap ton of $$$ somewhere. They can't possibly be making a profit giving so much free stuff away.

One more thing I noticed about Amazon with their Prime card. I've also noticed this with Capitol One as well.

Anyone else notice that they keep boosting how much you can credit? They keep slipping it in for me. Oh! Here's another 500 limit! Oh! here's a 1k limit!

I didn't ask for this. You're just making it too damn easy for me to trip and fall and screw myself but you don't care. You just want $$.

This makes me sad that people actually lay traps for you like this. Companies should be hit with ethics laws left and right.

Then they brought in the merchants, and the place turned itself into something worse than eBay.

I've been burned too many times as well, and avoid them wherever and whenever possible. Many name brands have their own storefronts with same or better pricing, so why not buy direct from the source?

If you paid by credit card, can also use that route to get your money back under fraud terms.

Good luck

I did that today. I kept screenshots from my messages with Amazon so I hope that’s enough.

3rd parties are required to let you print the return label. If there isn't a "return item" button on the page, report them to Amazon.

Just last month they sent me over $200 in protein powder I didn't order. Some poor sap somewhere got my $10 order. I've had double deliveries that they tell me to keep and "undeliverable" I always get a refund for.

I've had mostly good experiences with Amazon, and I have been prime for probably a decade.

I don't think I have ever received a wrong item. Had a few broken in transit, and many arrive a day early.

Whenever I have problems I'll contact CS (chat) and I almost always get some kind of (small) credit if I have been inconvenienced,

That said, I'm sick of all the cheap BS they sell these. Sometimes when I search a particular item/brand name the results are mostly those ALLCAPSBRANDS no one has ever heard of straight from China, with multiple "brands" selling the exact same item.

Overall, a lot of times Amazon is a little bit cheaper on name brand items, and if I can I usually buy used from there.

Yet, the convenience is the devil, because I order a LOT of #. Hell, I mostly just order stuff to see if I like it then turn around and return it, since it's free both ways. Or set up a "subscribe and save" for 25% off then immediately cancel it, and do that repeatedly any time I need that item.

My singularly bad experience involved a third party freight delivery, which is described in my next post.
