I do find it funny that so many people were pissing and moaning after the SCOTUS did this, and now they're happy about it when they get their way. I think everything should be determined by states rights.

I disagree.

The Constitution says that in areas where the federal government has no authority, that authority goes to the states or the people. States have taken it upon themselves to usurp that authority wherever possible. But in my opinion, some matters should be strictly the purview of the people. Among those are matters that relate to family, personal religion, medical decisions, etc. Matters that affect individuals.

I may or may not agree with some people's views when it comes to abortion. But I recognize that my views carry almost no weight if I'm not personally involved or affected. I also recognize that abortion is a valid medical procedure. Almost no one advocates banning abortion entirely. Even the most anti-abortion proponent will admit that there are times when it is medically necessary. That being the case, I see it as a medical decision between a doctor and a patient to determine the proper course of action.

We wouldn't have an "abortion issue" if the authority and responsibility was in the hands of the people directly involved. The problem comes when the states or federal government decide they should have a say. And rather than resolving the issue, government uses it as a wedge to further divide people.

I don't think that the founding fathers intended for medical decisions to be within the scope of federal or state government's authority.

they defer to the wife's decision on this as it's her health

I'm one of those.
My personal feelings are not more important than a women's freedom to choose.

For the record I'm on her side. But it wasn't the law that ended her employment. It was the choice of that employer. And that is a different conversation. An Important conversation. You should make a thread on it.

Freedom of choice is important regardless of what a person is choosing.

The two party system needs that tug-o-war to stay relevant.
That's my guess.

Maybe they were posing.

No, they were rabid Ron Paul supporters.

I can vouch for this. I was here.

Just imagine what this country would be if ron had been president.

No nsa, much smaller fbi,and irs. Government would have long been stripped of power to tell schools what to do. So much more. Or, i should say, the federal government would be so much less.

Abortion is the premeditated killing of another human being, for convenience, in the majority of cases.
That is all.
Thank you.

Well if guys didn’t get so many women pregnant it wouldn’t be an issue.
Well perhaps stop opening your legs after a 6pack?

Men share the blame equally in unwanted pregnancies. At least, real men do. Boys on the other hand are mostly cowards who don't want to take responsibility for what they helped cause. And no, paying child support is not taking full responsibility.

Does that mean I "PERSONALLY THINK YOU OPEN YOUR LEGS AFTER A 6PK"?

But you sure like judging the ones who do. So much so that you would give the government power over their life choices. Over their very bodies.
If I dug into your private life I'm sure I'd find a few things i could judge you on. I could think up some laws to make you live they way I choose.

Get off your high horse.

Plan b, the so called abortion pill, should be the compromise here.

Only a tiny group of people think a few microscopic cells is equal to a thinking, feeling human being.

Taking a medicine after sex to me is no different than the female bodies monthly flushing out of eggs.

Men have equal responsibility for what they help create.

You can't make a baby without one of us.

For both practical and moral purposes, no one -- neither man nor woman -- should be creating unwanted babies.

Unless that's what they chose to do. See i don't think people should use the law to punish those who give into passion. Remember most unwanted pregnancies' come from flirting. Feeling that rush of attraction. Giving into the urges of the moment.

I understand you said practical and moral. And the people that are part of our lives and truly love us should judge us for these things. I just want it said that none of this should be the business of the government. Or the business of strangers.

That doesn't make your meddling in the lives of strangers a morally good action.

Giving power to the government to regulate bodies is the wrong way to resolve your feelings.

This single race was the litmus test to the rest of the country.

That's an odd claim to make. Do you think the entire US bases how it votes on how your State Supreme's vote? The whole idea of why SCOTUS voted as it did was not to stop abortions. It was to constitutionally give the State's back the power that never should have been taken from them in the first place.

What I find interesting is that every time a Justice votes based on ideology rather than the law, they break their oath and should if they are honest resign and step down. Does not matter if they vote Right or Left. If they don't vote based 100% on the law and only the law as written by the legislature, they are a corrupt judge.

Your wife/girlfriend/mom/sister/aunt/grandma/female coworker might appear to be Republican inside and out, she might even say she is anti-abortion………but when it comes time to vote, she is voting pro-choice.

You must live in a place where people have bad relationships with their spouses. That is sad. Married people who hide who they are from each other I mean. So sorry to hear that. If anyone has to hide who they are from their spouse they should never be together in the first place. If that's true, what a shame.

No thats no true, we share more blame than the women by a long way.

While a woman can say no at any point (rightfully since it is her body) and the man goes to jail, a woman can get knocked up by another man and then tag the first man as the father and the first man is screwed for the next 18 years and even if the truth comes out, there are ZERO consequences for her deceit.

A woman in many states can claim anything about the father and the fathers life gets ruined and 9 times out of 10 zero consequences for her if the truth comes out.

So no, they do not share equal blame and it's not even close, not in today's society..

I have known to many women on birth control that had multiple kids, my wife cant take birth control because her body tries to go into overdrive (her description) to get past it.

Dont want to get pregnant then dont have sex it's the only certain way to not have an unwanted pregnancy.

If I haven't said it yet I also agree with letting the voters of each state decide for themselves on this issue.

But if the majority of women in the this country want to give that power back to the federal government I wont stand in their way.

As a man none of this truly effects me at all. If I get a women pregnant I will take responsibility. If she chooses to have an abortion , I'll be fine with that too.

earliest survival of a baby is 21 weeks, if its just a clump of cells and all that, 40-70% survival rate at 24 weeks.

Men still get blamed for 90% of an unwanted pregnancy despite women having 100% control over their choices (consensual), since you were horribly wrong earlier pardon me if I automatically assume your horribly wrong again with its not a child comment.
