WHy dont message notifications show up when we log in?

Yeah when I log in the message telling us of messages NEVER works. Ive logged in before and had messages,that NEVER were announced by the log in message. It sure would be nice if that worked again.

Yes, I actually got a message from a user and I didn't even know or think to look to see if I got any PMs. I did eventually look and find it. But days had past.

To Darko:

I read your message about upgrading the website. I can already see a huge difference. I read your statement about rewriting the code for this website from the ground up. I have no doubt you will implement a feature alerting us to PMs immediately, and also replies to our posts. For that I thank you kindly. And also for all the work making the system already more reactive. No doubt the new implementations will breath new life into the website.

The page which appears after we log in is comparatively new; the "messages received since last log in" has never been anything but zero, so I've always assumed the count was a feature which was planned but never activated.

You'll remember that the message icon on the top line used to light up if we had messages. This was certainly not ideal, because the significance of it wasn't obvious to people who hadn't been trained to look for it, but that light also died some time ago.

The reason the envelope stopped was because it part of the batch code that used to bog the site to a crawl twice an hour.

People should have manually checked for years. I know the staff has said much many times.

Remember also there was a reminder banner to check your PMs as well that people didn’t like so well because it was annoying. That displayed when you ignored the envelope too long.

well maybe with the upgrades it can finally work without bogging down perhaps right? I wanted to bring it to the Attention of darko was all.

The staff have been riding him about it, rest assured. It keeps us from dropping a PB to get people’s attention.

Funny how people check PM’s when they can’t post.

I remember the good old days when the little envelope would light up when you got a u2u message. I thought that was a nice way to notify the members when they got a PM. I don't even bother to check it out anymore.

I got worried i was banned from the site when i couldn't login.

Hey mate I miss the message lit envelope too! Also
I miss the live radio shows & we could text live to
each other & the hosts. I think that's where I met you.
Trying to remember...gardenimg with laura...a survival show with Sempre? & another had the kiwis...

Thank you Darko & others for all your hard work on the site & for communicating with us! I really hope you keep the the same format cz it's very attracive layout, easy to use & I like the diff. levels with their own topics & files ie
below top secret, Rat & etc...

There were 3 or 4 times I couldn't get on here today &
& message was in re to the ATS servers.
