AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can pose profound risks to society and humanity, as shown by extensive research[1] and acknowledged by top AI labs.[2] As stated in the widely-endorsed Asilomar AI Principles, Advanced AI could represent a profound change in the history of life on Earth, and should be planned for and managed with commensurate care and resources. Unfortunately, this level of planning and management is not happening, even though recent months have seen AI labs locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict, or reliably control.
Therefore, we call on all AI labs to immediately pause for at least 6 months the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4. This pause should be public and verifiable, and include all key actors. If such a pause cannot be enacted quickly, governments should step in and institute a moratorium. AI labs and independent experts should use this pause to jointly develop and implement a set of shared safety protocols for advanced AI design and development that are rigorously audited and overseen by independent outside experts. These protocols should ensure that systems adhering to them are safe beyond a reasonable doubt.[4] This does not mean a pause on AI development in general, merely a stepping back from the dangerous race to ever-larger unpredictable black-box models with emergent capabilities.

It takes a few years for 'oversight comities' to become corrupted, but it always happens. It's already too late to close the barn door, IMO.

even if 99% of us signed, pandora's box is open. there are so many anarchos, hackers, nerds out there who only need internet access. we humans are doomed to develop further and explore limits, that's our nature. the next few years and decades will be exciting, on many levels. i believe in the positive aspects of ai because it is leading medical research and science in general into a new era - where everything is happening much faster.

Reason #100 to be nervous about AI?
How many AI scientists are on that list.
And wondering how many are not.

OpenAI is where this all started, and Elon put it on the web free of charge where it's immortalized for countless generations but sure, tell us how to make safe intelligent choices about AI development
As he witnessed the first detonation of a nuclear weapon on July 16, 1945, a piece of Hindu scripture ran through the mind of Robert Oppenheimer: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds”.

Perhaps happening much faster than the human brain can catch up with and comprehend.

All they have to do is unplug it from the wall outlet or the ups, and everything will be fine.
The problem is we can't unplug certain human beings.

What does this have to do with UFO’s or Aliens?
Beings AI on other planets could have been their own 2nd Genesis to further their advancement.
We no longer need to wait for a conqueror from outer space…..the conqueror is here already, being created by ourselves.

AI is open source…
?
AI is the type of self-learning software basically. There are by now lots of seperate AI, and exactly one of them is open source. A primitive one in comparison as learning tool for the interested peeps, but one that has already reached the end of its possibilities.
Or it wouldn't be open source.
Is there any open source AI? Mozilla's Open Source AI Initiative: A Human-First Approach to Challenge Tech Giants. Mozilla, known for its human-first approach, has recently announced the founding of an open-source initiative for developing AI.1 day ago
