How old was Jesus, when he said, I will rebuild this temple in 3 days?

I just want to start this thread with a tiny bit of Bible trivia from the New Testament and see if it goes anywhere.

A well known phrase attributed to Jesus Christ is when he told the money changers to destroy this temple, so he could raise it again in 3 days.

How old do you believe Jesus was when he said that? How old does the book of John say he was when he said that?

The popular response is magick number 33, buuut I'm gonna say, based off your specifics, and the current calendars,
...maybe 25?

Idk, it's more like "guess what number I'm thinking of", really.
I'm more of a 30 guy, but I'll give you 25.

Jesus's ministry lasted only 3 to 3.5 years

According to Luke 3:1, John the Baptist began his ministry in the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar’s reign. Tiberius was appointed emperor in AD 14, and “in the fifteenth year“ would be AD 28 or 29. Jesus began His ministry shortly thereafter, so, around AD 29. As for the end of His ministry, we know that it culminated with His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension.

According to John’s Gospel, Jesus attended at least three annual Feasts of Passover through the course of His ministry: one in John 2:13, another in 6:4, and then the Passover of His crucifixion in 11:55–57. Just based on that information, Jesus’ ministry lasted 2 years, at the very least.

Because of the amount of things that Jesus accomplished and the places He traveled during His ministry, many scholars believe there was another Passover, not mentioned in the Gospels, which fell between the Passovers of John 2 and John 6. This would lengthen Jesus’ ministry to at least 3 years.

We can add more time because of all that took place before the first Passover of Jesus’ ministry in John 2. By the time of that first Passover (in the spring of 30), Jesus had already traveled from the area of the Jordan to Cana to Capernaum to Jerusalem. He had been baptized by John (Matthew 3:13–17), been tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–2), began His preaching ministry (Matthew 4:17), called His first disciples (John 1:35–51), performed His first miracle (John 2:1–11), and made a trip to Capernaum with His family (John 2:12). All this would have taken several months, at least.

Add to that the 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and His ascension (Acts 1:3), and we have a total length of Jesus’ earthly ministry. From His baptism to His ascension, the late summer of 29 to the spring of 33, we have approximately 3½ years.

Just in case some people don't know this, but when Jesus said that, he wasn't talking about the building they were all standing in. He was meaning himself. Which was destroyed and was "rebuilt" in three days.

Greetings Inach Marbank. This is an intersting question. I wonder where it is heading, I have never heard it asked before. I looked up the scripture where he said this and it was in John 2:19. This was very early in his ministry. Luke 3:23 says Jesus was baptized when he was about 30 years old.

John 1 gives us some info about Jesus Christ coming down from heaven, and info on John the Baptist baptizing Jesus (around the age of 30 years old). Jesus calls his first disciples there in John chapter 1.

From there we go to chapter 2 where there is a marriage feast in Cana. And that is Jesus' first miracle of the water into wine. Verse 11 says that this was "the beginning of his signs."

From there we read about the Passover (which is Nisan 14, and this would be during the year 31 C. E.) At that time the quote you mentioned is made by Jesus to the Jews in the temple during the Passover time of 31 C. E.

Since this was at the beginning of his ministry, and Luke says he was baptized at around the age of 30 years old, Jesus was 30 years old when he made this statement.

He was in the dusk's twilight, 3 days from his resurrection, then, his Temple rose again.

Is that what you mean?

Luke 3:22-23 says Jesus began to be about 30 years of age after the Holy Ghost descended upon him.

But John 2:19-21 says Jesus’ body had been alive for 46 years.

Thus it is revealed the Holy Ghost is a fountain of youth.

John 2:19-21 says that the Jews said that the Temple (that is Herod's Temple as it was called) was built in 46 years. Not that Jesus was 46 years old. I don't know what translation you are using. I know some translations that use old English can be hard to understand.

John 2:21. The temple he spoke of was his body.

Ok. Jesus was talking about his body. The Jews were talking about Herod's temple.

You should interpret all references to temple in John chapter 2 as meaning the human body. The answer was given, but you didn’t receive it.

You should not read 1 verse as literal, then the verse right after it as figurative. That’s confusing.

There is another common symbol between Luke 3 and John 2. The dove. This is the Holy Ghost. The spirit which gives the fountain of youth.

Jesus said get these out of here: those who sell doves, the Holy Ghost. Do not turn one’s holy body into a marketplace.

Turning water into wine is a symbol of being rejuvenated by the Holy Ghost.

Who did Jacob wrestle with~

Genesis 32:22-32
New King James Version
Wrestling with God
22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. 23 He took them, sent them [a]over the brook, and sent over what he had. 24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He [c]touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”

But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

27 So He said to him, “What is your name?”

He said, “Jacob.”

28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but [d]Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

29 Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.”

And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the name of the place [e]Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Really, the answer of his actual age is explicitly given, and if anybody here actually agrees, I will be absolutely astounded.

As long as you mentioned the 3 days. Something to remember here.

2nd Peter 3-8
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Do you see the alternate meaning of the 3 days there?

And did he give away the date of this event?

9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

No one is going to agree with you, because you are wrong. Randomuser is right on this one. Maybe you need a more detailed translation?

EXB
·They [The Jewish leaders; L The Jews] answered, “It took forty-six years [C Herod the Great began a reconstruction and expansion of the Temple complex in 20 bc, thus dating this statement to about ad 27] to ·build [reconstruct] this Temple! Do you really believe you can ·build [raise] it again in three days?”

If you knew the Bible, you would know that Jesus often spoke in parables and parallels.
