Turns out he was rather a random, with other parishioners saying he had not been seen there in a very long time.

Which begs the question through if he was seen before, even very long ago, do they know who he is and could it help the Police apprehend the culprit?

Shiites and Sunnis don't attend the same mosques through, same as Catholics and Protestants attend different places of worship.

Who knows indeed, further information is most definitely required, the old fellow might be able to fill in some of the gaps, but as far as i know he has not spoken out or made comment yet as to the attack or as to the topic of the 5-minute conversation.

Attempted murder or at the very least GBH.

However, there are far easier ways to assassinate or murder an 82-year-old pensioner without resorting to attending the mosque and being caught on camera committing the offense.

If it was an assassination attempt, it was a very public one, with the assassin seeming not to have much regard for maintaining anonymity.

Is it more heinous than if the man stabbed him to death? I don't think he was trying to kill him and was "teaching him a lesson" of some kind. We also do not know the full extent to his burns as in is he out of the hospital right now walking around?

Respectfully Ive been burned on both legs to above my knees with 3rd-degree burns, it's excruciating pain, and physical pain I still deal with 50 years later. While the stab in the arm and the gash taken out of my head lots of blood but, 2 weeks and just a small scar.

I was thinking: what if the publicity of it all was the purpose?
Sure you can go lots of ways with that, like 'attention seeker' or sthg other very personal motivation.

But I doubt the victim was randomly picked. They had sthg to talk about, because they did, so that's proven I think.
Which leaves us with several questions about the victim. Who is he? What's their relationship? Was he the reason the suspect was there in the first place?
After all mosques are great meeting places. Who did he meet the other times he was there?

I mean there are a lot of unanswered questions but I think it's highly possible some type of organized crime outfit is sending a message... is the dude found by now?
This guy probably went there, some type of coercion took place, the victim didn't comply and the message is: do as you're told to others of any group the victim might be involved in.
Attendants of that mosque? A certain ethnicity? Family? Small business owners? Who knows...

But I guess it could also be he wasn't aware they'd figure out his face? And it's not a message, just incompetence.

Further information on what happened seems to be few and far between.

I can't even seem to find any updates on the man now that he is home or if the person responsible for the attack has been apprehended.
