While true Turkey has been a member since 1952, the point stands the proximity to Russia that Finland and Sweden are problematic. You do know in this world both things can be true, it's a provocation to Russia, and while considering the current climate in the region it's understandable a smaller vulnerable nation would seek out better security for its citizens

Whose analysis did you trust that the sanctions would hurt Russia and not backfire as spectacularly as it did?

Yes the war is disastrous for Ukraine. Entirely Russias fault as they are they invading.

It's also been disastrous for Russia.

The sanctions haven't backfired and we still don't know who blew up the pipeline.

When I say that I don't see this battle ending, it's because I see the U.S. and possibly its NATO allies jumping in to get back at Russia if anything happens to Ukraine. The U.S. has WAY TOO many investments, including money laundering back to the U.S., going on for them just to let Russia take it.
