The officer who accidentally executed a young boy was given the Purple Heart an hour ago for the injuries he received in executing a boy he had just ripped from the back seat of his mother’s car and murdered.

The boy had been picked up from school and was in the back seat of the car at his younger brother’s middle school where they were waiting for his little brother to get out of class and because there was a decent amount of time left, he decided to get out and take a walk. He took a ten minute walk and returned to the car but had mistaken the car for a stranger’s with the same make and color. He got in the back seat, saw the driver, and laughed saying, “excuse me wrong car,” and he got out returning to the RIGHT car. Well, the sheriff was called and warned that some high guy was out of his mind getting into cars that weren’t his and so they showed up, pulled him out of the back seat, and in the ensuing confusion the officer drew his gun and blew a hole in him as his mother watched.

The following investigation found that he had acted properly and so no charges were filed. Well, today the officer was awarded the Purple Heart for the injury he got in that execution to show how proud law enforcement is of him. It is sick and I have to make myself go get busy elsewhere now because I am so disgusted and desperate to understand that I can’t function.

Do you all feel the same?

Have I done something wrong or posted something inappropriate? I’m already confused by the silence garnered by the first two replies.

If everything is hunky dory though, I had to come back and offer what I have felt since my first time crossing paths with law enforcement in my life after a lifetime of supporting them no questions asked. I won’t share my story here but my God, was I harassed and abused to no end and I was the VICTIM/complainent of the situation.

Given how quickly they can ruin a life and even in a word, take one, not to mention all of the endless corruption we can’t get through one single day without hearing more of, my solution is simple and would assure no officer ever acted in a corrupt way again. Although you’d have to find a way to better ensure officers faced charges in the first place and not get let off no matter the situation…

Any officer working in the role of law enforcement at the time who commits a misdemeanor should receive automatic life in prison.

Any officer working in the role of law enforcement at the time who commits a felony should receive an automatic death penalty.

It’s not too harsh, it is simply equal the power they wield over all the innocent civilians. Anyway the law isn’t meant to bring harsh punishments to cops anyways. It’s to be the one all, end all deterrent of narcissists, psycho and sociopaths from signing up to be a policeman and make sure they think twice always before acting since they obviously don’t think at all now. Guarantee it would clean the force up immediately the country over.

I thought you were a police supporter? Supporting the police beating down peaceful Canadian protesters, etc.

I wonder who runs the city, honest question.

Obviously, the guy should be on trial, didnt watch the video but unless he was armed and combative there is no good excuse for pulling someone out of a car and shooting them.

But to say ACAB is a level of ignorance I am surprised to see here, by sheer number the shootings and violence really is a tiny number of cops in a tiny number of interactions per year.

Does that make it easier on the victims, no of course not, but they have millions of interactions per day with people across the nation and the number of cases of murder, and excessive violence is actually quite low when compared to the number of interactions per day.

This video is safe to watch btw if that is the issue. There is also a body cam video of the entire incident of his getting shot floating all over the Internet however I’m disturbed enough, I could never bring myself to watch it or any child’s life ending right in front of me so I can’t say anything about if that video is NSFW or what have you but it is there if people want to go see it to form an opinion, I simply cannot.

Not in any way! Sometimes there is some information that strikes people to the core... they already know that there are tremendous emotional issues here. Many would love to allow themselves to 'unleash' the reaction they embrace, but also know that here, in this world of ours we need to actually communicate, not rant. (Don't worry - you weren't ranting.)

I had to wait a minute to compose an answer...

What happened was a horrific outcome to a situation where such an outcome is considered a "total failure."

At the moment, I don't know enough about the situation to generalize about policing, I've known cops who would NEVER have handled this in such a way as to risk it ending in a death...

The "news" about being awarded over it seems inflammatory ... I know instances where people receiving awards like commendations and awards, and other such 'career fodder' whom I believed NEVER DESERVED it (but I also know too many who did deserve, and never got one.) Somehow, I can't accept that with this reality "in our faces" they could decide to reward the officer.

I guess we should view your posts about right wing extremism and the "insurrection" through a different lens now that we know you use domestic terrorist slang.

How does it feel to be a threat to our democracy and a radical extremist?

Memes advocating the murder of law enforcement, and slogans
found on the internet such as ACAB, F12, 1312 used by the far-left
appeared scrawled on the defaced monuments and buildings all over
America.

There used to be
some terms--``ACAB'' is one of them. But then that turned into,
on viral memes, about how do you turn that into something that
shows even more violence. One of them was--the term itself
means ``all cops are bastards."

It amazes me that we don't have civilian review boards. We hire these guys to protect us and enforce the law. There has to be a process where people can objectively say. This officer is should not work for this city an longer.

When did the police become part of the military?

The Purple Heart is a USA military award. Doesn't matter the circumstances, police are not eligible for a Purple Heart or any other military awards.

From Law Enforcement Purple Heart

A Law Enforcement Purple Heart is a generic term to describe an American law enforcement medal which may be issued to any law enforcement officer who is injured, wounded or killed in the line of duty.[1] The term is based on the Purple Heart Medal issued by the United States Armed Forces. One of the major pushing organizations for the Purple Heart for Law Enforcement is the National Associations of Chiefs of Police who award the Law Enforcement Purple Heart.[2]

As the Police Purple Heart is issued by several different local police agencies, exact criteria for issuance vary.

It's not awarded by the local police authorities.. Its awarded by the National Associations of Chiefs of Police, a fact which often is understated in such reporting.

Well I learned something new.

That only leads to more questions about how this National Association of Chiefs of Police thinks this particular officer deserves this award.

They are making themselves look bad at all levels by this awarding.

I quoted the person that said it, not you. They were replying to you, which is why your name appeared in the quote.

I totally agree with your disgust in the OP. The police are out of control in many parts of the country. They abuse people who have committed no crime while DAs are letting violent criminals runs free.
