If your dad tells you not to touch the stove because it's hot, yet you do it anyway and get burnt, who is at fault?

Are you comparing the death of Lot's wife to a kid who who experienced a minor amount of pain in order to learn a (life) lesson?
I'm sure you'll agree on second thought it's not quite the same.

But you also have to remember these writings came from a "God" forced to tell stone age farmers and goat herders the mysteries of the universe. Even today many of those "things" don't translate into language. How would Picard from Star Trek tell a 3000 BC sheep herder the mysteries of a warp drive? Planets and suns? Galaxies? The Universe? The sheer size of it all?
