What goes to Los Vagus suddenly needs parts

This just in, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobille has had a catalytic converter stolen while in Los Vegas.

This is not a drill, they probably used a sawsall. Not even a 27 foot long hotdog is safe anymore.

For someone to cut out the very innerds of such a vehicle is rediculous. It was probably just chock full of fillers.

PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who authorities say was trying to steal a catalytic converter from a truck in Palmdale is dead after being run over by the driver of that truck.

Authorities say a car with four suspects inside pulled up to the lifted 4x4 Ford Excursion, and one of them got out to saw off the vehicle's catalytic converter.

A woman was sleeping inside the truck and heard the noises and thought someone was breaking in. She started the engine and put the car in reverse gear. When she felt a bump, she got out and called 911 after she saw a man on the ground.

Responding deputies detained the three other suspects, another man and 2 women. The suspect that was struck was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

We keep an SUV parked outside the gates of the steel plant for taking workers in and out of the plant.

On our way in one day we got the sh#t scared out of us when we started the SUV and it sounded like it was going to explode.

This is in a parking lot with full CCTV and security, they don't care.

Arseholes.

A 62 year old man died in Spokane, Wa. last year when the truck he was stealing the catalytic converter from slipped off its jacks and crushed him.

Following up, it seems to be a common occurrence across the country. Catalytic thieves live a dangerous life!

I’ve often wondered why this is a thing.
Obviously the only motivation to steal a converter would be to sell it so why end that motivation.
Only allow licensed exhaust mechanics and scrap yards to sell converters.

Just stop putting them on vehicles, problem solved.

but from what I understand OEM converters have types of metals that sell well on the black market. One person I knew went out to their car in the morning and saw it had an odd tilt. Thieves had jacked it up and set it on a cinder block in order to steal the CC.
