Seems to me that if it was traveling fast, it would need quite a bit of fuel or charge if it was electric. Sounds like it might be a fabrication to show that Biden was on his toes. Probably one of our own special drones that we shot down to prove surveillance by other countries....after all, the writing on the Chinese balloon was in english, so it will be easy now to say it was Chinese if they bring back some wreckage.

It is getting harder and harder to believe anything we hear coming from our government these days. My father told me when I was young, believe half of what you hear and three quarters of what you see...that was back in the mid sixties. It is like my old saying when my daughter was around ten back in the mid nineties...I told her that never steal unless it is worth over a million bucks. She told me that now my saying has to be modified to say a billion instead of a million.

Well put, and a great analogy to boot.

People generally don't understand the concept of information distribution.
Every single thing the average citizen consumes via the television, computer, gadget device, etc is 'information'. This 'information' is released and distributed (and in some cases, manufactured) in a deliberate, controlled manner. For the most part (with some exceptions), if you are hearing about it loud and clear, it is because someone wants you to hear about it.

When this information control is utilized in a deliberate operation (especially by the military) with the direct intention of altering emotions, responses, etc of the people, governments, and organizations, it is considered what is known as a psyop (psychological operation). Common technique in games like these.

The propaganda concept goes right over most people's heads. They think the news is their pal.

It had been tracked…..for longer hours than the reported size could possibly hold fuel for long hours….imo.

It was at 40k feet and not falling to earth on its own…such as space junk might do if it didn’t burn up on re-entry first.

Suspicious, I’ll say also

👽

Im a firm believer in "UFOs" as ive seen them my whole life of varying shapes, sizes and distances.

But this sounds like a balloon

I know i know we think "jet speeds" but jets are also capable of flying at semi normal speeds and at that altitude, if it was a dirigible type device in the jet stream it could be going almost 300mph so....

See…as I surf around….I see less of a balloon being mentioned, than an unidentified object. And no where I could see …..any mention of the object being a payload, slung under a balloon.

Perhaps I’m not hitting the right websites to see that a balloon the size of a car is emphasized.

I mean it could be either right? Theres so many unknowns its hard to make a call.

Like ive said ive seen some pretty crazy things in the sky, but with the number of balloons that have come up recently it wouldnt surprise me if this was another, ALSO i reckon there doesnt have to be much of a payload on these things either so to speak, so who knows

I myself have seen in the last 5 years the Cigar AND the solid ball-bearing type sphere shapes, one while on an airline at around 20k feet so

Who knows my man!

What I DO know is weve got both flying around out there lol

Folks. What are we talking about here.

Last week a 200 foot balloon with a payload the size of a 747 floated over the US.
Today we learn the USAF shot down an Unidentified object over near Alaska.

Why is this happening?

I want anyone, to tell me, the last time this happened in the US?

It’s probably the Chinese……..just add helium to one of these….and voila!

How did the F22 pilot know there was no life form in the vehicle?

Because nobody waved at him?

Yeah….I read that and pretty much sprayed water from my mouth unto my iPad.

All of a sudden we have life form sensor’s on our aircraft?…….Hmmmm

Of course….aircraft could now be outfitted with thermal imaging.

Interesting tidbits…. Can Thermal Imaging See Through Walls? And Other Common Questions

Probably because there was no cockpit canopy and not enough space inside the object to accommodate a human.

I'll give it a guess...

From USA to China: Neener neener neener we shot down your anti-gravity drone.

it's been reported that whatever this thing was, it did not have the ability to manuever on its own. space junk from a busted satellite??

Space junk can't float in Earth's atmosphere.
Not by a long shot- and no known aircraft could detect or intercept something moving as fast as space junk.

This. It's definitely not space junk.

It doesn't appear to be a balloon. What's strange, is that if it was incapable of maneuvering by itself, how did it stay afloat in the sky, if it had no balloon or parachute to keep it aloft?

Also, I'm not certain how it was a threat to civilian air traffic, when it was shot down in the middle of nowhere?

Some people don't go to all the different sub forums, I only go to 3 or 4 of them so it's nice to see a discussion about it in a sub forum it fits under with like minded peeps

Pics or it didn't happen.

That's the saying, and they've got them, or else they made it up.

How can we talk about it when there's no description of it. There were plenty of pictures of the balloon.

Balloons aren't always round, or even blimp-shaped.

Just because it "didn't appear to be a balloon", doesn't mean it wasn't a "balloon", of some sort.

Unless, and we've been given no reason to conclude this, the object appeared to be metallic, and solid, rather than merely inflated (ie, mylar "party" balloon-like).

How it managed to stay aloft is a mystery, so far. Unless that question has been determined, but not disclosed.

It was deemed a possible threat to civilian aviation because it was drifting at 40,000FT, which is an altitude commonly used by passenger and cargo jets. Or so was the implication.

The object appeared to have no means of propulsion, no means of active control, did not appear to be manned, and, one assumes, did not respond to radio hails.

Well, listening to the announcement by Brigadier General Patrick S Ryder the 'Airborne Object' was shot down at 1.45pm EST, in territorial airspace, over territorial waters. The object was detected by ground radar, then intercepted by F22 fighters which 'identified the object'. It was 'flying' at 40000ft and posed a risk to civilian flights.

They are in the process of recovering it. At the time of the press conference/announcement - they did not have a 'description' of the object, but they knew the size, where it was shot down and the justification for taking that action. .

In a later statement, they indicated that the F22 pilots ascertained that the 'object' was unmanned.

So - 'they' know what it is by all accounts. They just haven't got round to furnishing us with the 'description' yet.

Or perhaps - they don't have a clue what it is and just shot it down anyway.

Could it have been one of their own black craft gone rogue?

No witnesses? Well then one can make up any story with official briefings.

Are they going to make it more interesting than this let's wait and see...
