I mean how prepared can you really be ?

Im screwed if the S### hits the fan . I live in the suburbs of a big city , II have a generator but it hasnt been started in years and last time I tried wouldn't start
I Have one 5 gallon gas can about half full. My freezer is pretty well stocked but alot of good that does if we lose power. No fireplace or wood burning stove.

I have some canned goods but minimal lol. I couldnt start a fire without matches or a bic, I know nothing about gardening and growing food .

Never been a hunter dont even own a gun ATM. I could fish But Im no where near a lake or river.

I am just effed if the SHTF

no to tell you your business, but taking the generator to the small engine guy and having him change the carb won't cost too much, and after that, making sure you have a little gas, and starting the thing up every few weeks for a few minutes, might help you out. Maybe you won't have to wait for the Red Dawn invasion, and you can just make it through the next ice storm.

become a predator and live off your stupid neighbors that tell everybody else what they have.

nah just joking, just pointing out people that get on line talking sh@@ about what they have only invites others to their place for resupplying efforts.

good thing there's no info to id who and where you are in your profile. one thing i do recommend get out of the brubs if you can, start buying bean bullets and bandages, and a # pot load of bic lighters and put them everywhere.

I can change the carb and been planning to do it for a couple years but just dont .
Probably because deep down i dont think the #### is going to hit the fan.

I'm literally Rambo too, but I test my generator every couple weeks because as bad ass as I am with my Kbar, it's not all that useful against an ice storm.

It's like Bill Burr says I can get all this stuff, and as soon as the SHTF whoever the badass in the neighborhood will be holding him by his ankles shaking every dime out of his pockets and robbing him blind.

Hell, you can only do so much if you are in the cities and burbs and can't get out you are likely screwed.

My preparedness level wanes over the years, after COVID my readiness level is low mark. So much depends on if we hunkering down or if we are bugging out.

Even then my high level was a few boxes in my garage. LOL And I sold all that when we moved 4 years ago

Among other item I have protein weight gain powder with veggie powder
It is something to keep you alive if you are on the run or hiding while your place is looted this will keep you going and it's portable
A camping water filter is a must.

Because it probably won’t, in the exact way you envision it.

There is no doubt rougher times are coming. What that actually looks like, no one really knows.

You’d be doing wonders for yourself and your family, if you got out of the big city. That would be the most important step to take, even if the sh!t never hits the fan.

Yes.. Agreed. We want out of the city more and more as we get older anyway so were on Zillow every other night

We are going to sell and do that at the very least

it will help but nothing beats the real deal,

on the gen carb, depending on what kind of carb it is you might can take it off and soak in it acetone, ether or carb cleaner and get rid of all the gummed up junk they put in gas now. then next time you run it disconnect the fuel line and let it run out of gas, even if you use fuel stabilizer.

I've never been in the situation to know what's needed. But I have two 5-gallon buckets full of beans and rice that I add more to about every other week, I have a generator that I doubt I'd even crank up in that scenario because it would be an open invitation to everyone desperate person within earshot. I have 3 rifles, 4 pistols, and 2 shotguns with enough ammunition to get me by. My property has wildlife on it all the time but I have a feeling I'd be dealing with poachers more than wild game (backs up to 250 acres of woods), but I'd live out different scenarios in my head and prepare myself on what to do in that case if it came to that. I also have 3 stocked ponds filled with bass and brim. My parents are 5 houses away (about half a mile) and they have a garden and chickens, and also a 1976 Jeep CJ-5 that me and dad restored (in case it was a CME that caused this). We have a set of walkie talkies that we use to communicate during outages from heavy storms so we'd use those often, and we have a pathway mapped out so we can travel to each others' house and stay off the road. I also have books on survival and wild plants that can serve as food, medicine, etc and how to use them for their intended purposes. I'd like to think I'm prepared, but I really don't think anybody will be prepared unless or until we experience it. I do know that only the strong will survive and I'll do whatever it takes to keep my family alive and well, and also prepare them as best I can on how to protect themselves and survive if I get killed protecting them, as there will be no laws and no rules at that point.

As far away from the city as I am, and as far on the outskirts of the tiny city I live in that I am, I figure I'll have, at the very least, a few months before rebel gangs of looters start making their way to where I'm at. There will be plenty of places to loot though, before they ever get to my neighborhood. Hell, they may not even make it there.

During BLM/Antifa riots I bought a bunch of 2X4s & boxes of nails from Home Depot so I can board up my windows/doors, also bought a junior-sized shotgun so I could at least fend off hostiles at first.

Probably have 2 month's worth of non-perishables but living in Northeast with no generator or wood stove means I could freeze well-before then.

At least you're thinking about it, probably ahead of most of your neighbors!

Quite the pickle.

Yep, you're screwed. More because of laziness or apathy it sounds like than any other factor.

You could always just rebuild the gennie carb with a carb-kit, new gaskets, needles, seals, float/diaphragm, etc...but that doesn't sound like your style...

Sorry to say, your type will be prey. Not prey for my type, because I won't be anywhere near a city if SHTF.

Depends what SHTF means...it won't be like the movies...

IMO S has already HTF...matter of perspective I guess..

Though I loathe most of these videos

but I used this when I needed to work in my shed for a few days and it was below freezing

The last thing I'd do in a SHTF scenario is start up a generator and announce to the world that I'm a prepper for the few hours/days I had before my gas supply ran out.

Generators are a great asset for short power outages, but I prefer to take that time to 'unplug' and brush up on my 'roughing it' skills. One doesn't realize just how bad noise pollution is until the grid goes offline for awhile.

If SHTF from an invading foreign enemy prepping makes sense; if it's internal, nobody will be able to hide for long. I'd rather be at ground zero and get it over with.

I guess thats a reason to just stay in the city. Hope the bomb is big enough to incinerate the burbs as well

I really doubt that there will be a SHTF scenario. If there is such a thing, it will be a psy-op, mainstream media manufactured event, like it is everything since 9/11...

They do like to promote that fearporn though, through movies and everyway they can. Fear is a highly effective psychological tool to control the minds of many people. It puts your mind into cognitive dissonance mode, and you simply stop thinking, you just act out of emotion: fear. Plus, that elevates your cortisol levels, leading to bad sleeping patterns, bad nutrition, and bad health in general. Beware of those who only have fear to offer, things are never "that" bad.

Then, tactically speaking, a real SHTF scenario would be too chaotic to control. The powers that be only operate through organized chaos, and much of it is simply media fabrications about chinese balloons and fake viruses that don't exist...
