British Athletics push for change - 2 Categories ... Women and Other

British Athletics has come to the conclusion that the best way to "ensure fairness in competition in the women's category" is to allow Pantomime Dames and people who identify as Camels to compete with the inferior and so less deserving of fairness ... Men.

Way to go for equality guys !

British Triathlon also announced last year that it planned to introduce two categories for competition - one for athletes who were female at birth and one "open" category for men, transgender women and non-binary athletes.

UK Athletics chair Ian Beattie said sport has a "duty to ensure fairness in competition in the women's category".

He added: "Therefore we are calling for a change in legislation that will provide clarity for all and ensure the women's category can be lawfully reserved for female at birth competitors."

FINA President Husain Al-Musallam said at the time the decision was announced: "We have to protect the rights of our athletes to compete, but we also have to protect competitive fairness at our events, especially the women's category at FINA competitions.

"FINA will always welcome every athlete. The creation of an open category will mean that everybody has the opportunity to compete at an elite level.

"This has not been done before, so FINA will need to lead the way. I want all athletes to feel included in being able to develop ideas during this process."

I think it would be a better idea to create 3 categories if you're looking for fairness.

Well if fairness is the ultimate goal then there should be only one category.

Especially in a time when a supreme court justice can't even define a woman and all genders must be treated equal.

There is a definite irony about this issue. You may remember that decades ago there were concerns that certain Soviet women Olympic athletes, especially in the weight-lifting competition, might really be men. So sex-tests were introduced. But militant feminists objected on the grounds that sex-tests were not required for men's events, missing the point that men's events did not need the same protection from unfair advantage. So the tests were abandoned. Now the present generation of women athletes are unconsciously demonstrating why they were needed.

There was also the more recent controversy surrounding South African runner Caster Semenya , the female athlete who had abnormally high levels of testosterone and ran the 800 meters faster than any woman on the planet.

Semenya was assigned female at birth, was raised as a girl and identifies as a woman. She has an intersex condition called 46,XY differences in sex development that causes male and female traits and a testosterone level higher than the typical female range. She was banned from her best event after losing her appeal of a World Athletics regulation that made women with her condition ineligible for some races.
