Im smelling a cover up for something, this is a plausible cover story.

A radioactive capsule has been lost for 28 days in the outback in the Pilbara.

From stories the containment vessel was bolted onto s pallet and somehow, it came loose bounced around thd truck and out the back.

There are several states trying to locate this capsule assisting the wa government.

Though I would have thought that the capsule would be in a lead lined box at least of a substantial size should it fall out at least the box would be easy to find.

The suggestion is the radioactive element smaller than a 10 cent piece separated from its containment vessel.

Thinking it came from a mine really what could it be?

Or could some one have stolen the element to create a dirty bomb! It’s a four day drive from the mine site to drive 1400 kilometres to Perth, I would say the drive would have had to slept along the way, the truck doesn’t have an armed crew. Easy pickings.

That’s hilarious.
How the hell are they going to find something that small?
Drive real slow along the route with radiation detectors?

It’s is funny, I saw a live news report one of the scientists said the have to drive at about ten kilometres an hour along the route to possibly detect it.

Need more than a packed lunch for that trip.

It's a 6mm x 8mm capsule of caesium-137
Came from Rio Tinto mine in Gudai-Darri, NW Australia
Apparently it was packaged, but a bolt came loose
The capsule then fell out through the bolt hole

I would have thought it would have been a bit more securely packaged. I guess lesson learned

This is a comedy show. Surely there is more to the story than this. What is the cover-up????

"It fell of the back off a truck" is Western Australian for "its stolen".

Apparently its not really worth much, but Im sure the hysteria will be used to its best.

A dime sized piece of cesium couldn't be used for any bomb anyways.. Someone will be in deep trouble though.

Guaranteed it didn't just fall out the back of.the truck, apparently its quite the radioactive substance though so you'd think it should've been couriered specifically at least.

Anyway I'm certain the OP is desperately trying to find an angle to blame it on his nemesis Dan Andrews like usual......it was Dans fault!

Lot of dirt roads in that part of the world, some of those corrugations gives everything a good rattling.

Just what kind of mining operation is going on that produce radioactive isotopes like this?

Probably not going to be an issue.
This is likely for a medical device like an X-ray or cancer therapy machine.
Not something you want to play with but at least it’s not lost on a playground or on a city steeet.

Somebody is going to get some serious heat for losing the shipment but I wonder who in the chain will it be? The guy that packed it?

Not an easy trip, i’d Imagine the driver would check his load every once in a while (like after his legally required rest breaks) and they could narrow down where along his journey it bounced off.

Or did Johno take a detour past his missus place for a quicky and a sambo..... or hit the ice pipe and crank it in one session?
