The panel was formed by a vote in the House of Reps as part of the 117th Congress. Any particular Congress has authority for a period of 2 years from the time they are first seated. That period of authority comes to an end in 2 or 3 business days after which the next Congress will take over. The panel has to be dissolved in a few days because the Congress that established it will no longer exist. It doesn't matter if it's a "good idea" or not and it has absolutely no bearing on whether the allegations are true or not.
Are you really so ignorant of the way the government works that you don't know this?
