Done it before. Kovacic and Modric are only 4 years older. But given how badly Brazil smacked Korea, yeah they're done.

It is worth noting Brazil's streak of losing to the first UEFA team they play in the knockouts phase.

Morocco may shock Spain on penalties. Currently going to extra time. So far it's been all expected teams winning without an upset.

It's either going to be Spain or Portugal going out. Swiss are crafty.

You know at this point I just don't want to see Argentina or Portugal. And I could be a France Hater but I am too busy trying to decide if Mbappe is human or not. I'm thinking hyperspeed cyborg.

Anyway. Go England may you keep the cyborg off the scoresheet.

Agreed. Don't want Portugal to go through because...Twinkle Toes.

Don't want Argentina because..... obviously.

As for Spain, could go to penalties but who knows?

Im the complete opposite of this.

I'd love too see Portugal go through and Argentina. Why?

Because of the unbelievable prospect of a Ronaldo v Messi final. Let that sink in a minute.

Well done Morroco, they've got such spirit.

I just read that Ronaldo starts on the sub's bench. Apparently, 70% of Spain supporters are happy to not see him play.

He may well throw a hissy fit?

I think the hissy fit he threw in the last game is what got him sidelined...

I'm only surprised that he didn't claim that goal.

The minute I go out for a smoke, the Swiss scored.

Sorry that I can’t follow as the play happens!

But, I am still following!

Amd the final four matches are set!!

Espania!!?????

Oh, welcome to our losers bracket!!

Portugal will be favored but I question that side. Not just goal scoring but actual team play!

Same with Brazil. Yeah, they scored a bunch of goals but they are overrated! They struggle and if the opposing offensive coach is any good they are in for a match!

But that may be my own personal bias against both teams!

Croatia and Netherland have to score goals.

There is a classic brewing with England v France! I will watch this one on pins and needles!!

Anyway, the quarter finals look to be interesting as much as the upsets in the group stage!!

If your team is still in it, congratulations!!

For us else….

Happy Viewing!!!

I think every team that has got to the quarters has deserved to.
I have to say that despite all the politics etc I've really enjoyed this World Cup, there's been some great football and matches. Far more entertaining than many of the previous tournaments I've watched.

I dislike FIFA as an organisation and I have almost as low an opinion of Infantino as I do of Blatter and Platini but.....
Still, its hard to ignore all the controversy surrounding Qatar 2022.

As passionate an Englishman that I am I just can't see past a Brazil v France final - could potentially be an all time classic, two very, very good footballing sides.

However, On Friday I shall be watching the evening kick off with my Dutch friend - who has bought me a (large) Dutch football top especially for the occasion - drinking Oranjeboom and shouting for a Dutch victory.

As always, firmly and passionately; Anyone but Argentina.

Going into the quarterfinals...

My Vegas moneyline wired mind is saying Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, and France in the semis; my heart wired mind wants Croatia, Netherlands, Morocco, and England.

Croatia has a way about getting by superior teams by holding and winning on PK's. That seems to have carried over from 2018.

Still can't turn down Brazil v. Argentina in a world cup setting. Or a Messi v. Ronaldo final. It's just, even though they are two of the best players to have ever lived, I am tired of Messi's aging retirement contract with the MLS' "Inter Miami" or Ronaldo's absurd annual salary from Saudi club Al Nassr.

Those are some powerhouse leagues right there. MLS and Saudi Arabia. Not knocking the MLS but it took us 30 years just to get to the level of England's second tier. He's retiring to Florida and it's not a coup for the US' top tier.

In the Portugal game as Ronaldo came off the bench his heir apparent gets a hat-trick. I get the feeling people are tiring of his ego regardless of the manager's claims it was a tactical move.

Over the primadonnas. It's easy to root against them because they have personality fan cults.

Tremendous game. Brazil's goal was on the cards for how many attempts they've had, but Croatia's persistence has brought them back from the brink of defeat... 2 minutes and it's penalties... flip of a coin.

ETA: I reckon if Neymar misses his penalty, Brazil will lose.
