Agents from the U.S. Air Force and FBI recently raided homes in Clark and Lincoln counties in an investigation of a man who operates a website about the top-secret military base known as Area 51, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations and FBI entered homes owned by Joerg Arnu in Las Vegas and the tiny town of Rachel on Nov. 3 and seized potential evidence for an undisclosed joint agency probe, according to Lt. Col. Bryon McGarry, spokesman for Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

“This is an open and ongoing law enforcement investigation between the Las Vegas FBI and Air Force OSI,”

Air Force, FBI raid homes in probe of Area 51 website

The Dreamland website was one of the first "UFO" sites
I discovered about a decade ago with some highly
intriguing pictures. I imagine a good amount of
members here also found the site of great interest.

Having read a few stories about people who tried
to get into Area 51, and the subsequent chase
and or arrest by authorities, pretty much
everyone knew this place was an off limits

Now there is a story about the home of the owner
in a raid with the FBI and the Air Force.

The website is still up, for now.

The owner describes the raid occured in typical
dragnet fashion, no warning, being dragged out
into the sub freezing weather. The authorities
took every device, a lot of records.

There is quite a bit more to read in the article,
which frankly is kind of shocking. There must
be something that happened recently that
teed this off? Or is this just more scare and
dare to the conspiracy thinking folks?

Does anyone have an idea what triggered
this? What are the thoughts of people here?
Some of you have studied this place for
a long time.

Yep. I was also thinking he might have a lot of communications
with folks who have pictures that have not seen the light of
day, and perhaps even some about "hard" evidence as you say.

Its kind of creepy that they raided all of his homes, after all
of this time? I mean, that site has been up since 1999.

If the rumors making the rounds are true, someone was really really stupid. Absolutely nothing to do with UFOs or aliens. Just a massive security breach that someone knew was wrong and did it anyway, out of arrogance.

Thanks for the info! I assume it was an electronic type
of breach, rather than something along the lines
of the typical ground approach?

Small airborne, with obvious modifications if the rumors are true.

Wasn't there a story recently about some Peruvian skulls that where stolen? I wonder if this is related at all?

What a drone with counter measures? Do all or any unknown aircraft get splashed if hey approach area 51? You're a very good part of ATS and have a very well knowledge of things. Is there a ATS post about yourself?

That was my guess the minute the story broke. A lot of behind the scenes illegal activities take place on legitimate sites that have nothing to do with the sites business.

Epstein should have taught us that,.

Hmm, well best of luck to them, the "pilot".

Wondering outloud if their name will ever appear in the news,
or just secret documents.

ETA: Thanks again for the reply!

This poor guy really got messed with.

This is his description of his experience

Message posted by Joerg (Webmaster) (Member since 10/17/2000) on November 12, 2022 at 12:00:16 PST:

I had numerous requests for comment from the media. Here is a copy of the press release I am sending out.

I am Joerg Arnu, owner and webmaster of the Dreamland Resort web site ( The subject of the web site is Area 51. I have operated that web site since 1999.

Last week Thursday (11/3/22) in the early morning my homes in Rachel (just outside of Area 51) and in Las Vegas were searched by a joint force of FBI and AF OSI. This happened without any warning. The doors were broken open and I in Rachel and my girlfriend in our Las Vegas home were detained and treated in the most disrespectful way. My girlfriend was led out into the street barefoot and only in her underwear in full view of our neighbors; I was led outside, handcuffed and only in t-shirt and sweats in sub-freezing temperatures.

Each home was searched by 15-20 agents in full riot gear, causing further damage in both homes besides the broken front doors. Despite my repeated requests for an explanation, I was only told that the search was related to images posted on my Area 51 web site.

I was very surprised how forceful the search warrant was executed and how rough we, both unarmed senior citizens, were treated. I have to believe that someone gave them bad information about us. All my laptops, phones, backup drives, camera gear and my drone were seized. With the equipment I lost all my medical records, financial and tax records, passwords, email and phone contacts, photos etc. Even my phone was taken, leaving me in Rachel with two broken doors and no way to communicate or call for help.

Not counting my expected legal expenses my losses so far include over $20k in equipment taken and over $5k in damage.

There are 40 pages missing from the search warrant I received and the case records are sealed. So, I cannot look up the reason for the search and I do not want to speculate. I left several messages with the FBI agent in charge but he has not returned any of my calls. At this point I have no choice but to take legal action to try and get my equipment back and to seek reimbursement for the damage.

In an effort to defuse the situation I have removed some material from my Dreamland Resort web site although I believe that it was legally obtained and legal to publish. I am not sharing anything on my web site that cannot be found on dozens of other web sites and news outlet publications. Considering how this went down I have no intention of removing any more material unless ordered to do so by a federal judge.

I believe the search, executed with completely unnecessary force by overzealous government agents was meant as a message to silence the Area 51 research community. The question now is: How far will they go?

Yeah, he got the treatment for sure.

He had a good run though, 1999 up to now
without anything like this happening.

This poor guy definitely did something to piss the area 51 folks off.
He doesn’t even know what he did, and likely they won't tell him, as he said he tried to get that info.

But they’ll tell him: it's classified, buddy, just watch what you do and speak.

For a long time, the leftwing had tried to tell us about the FBI going all the way back to the Black Panthers and other 60 and 70s lefties.

Recently, Waco, Ruby Ridge, and other events have shown now to the right-wing the ruthless methods of the FBI.

They don't play around on search warrants, as the same goes for the regular police.

Your rights and I mean anybody, are suspended on search warrants.

Manned aircraft will be escorted to the base, or out of the airspace, and will be met by people with absolutely no sense of humor, and you will have the debriefing from hell until they determine why you did it. If you declare an emergency, and land at either Groom or Tonopah, you better make damn sure it was an emergency that was going to end up with you at the bottom of a smoking hole in the ground fairly quickly. If you declare an emergency, and they inspect the aircraft and can't find anything wrong, you're in for a hell of a rough time, and may end up not flying again.

There are a few posts with some of my background around, from many years ago.

If the rumors are true, and he was involved in any way, then he deserves to have the book thrown at him. If he wasn't involved, but hosted the fruits of the incident, I can see why they reacted the way they did, but I feel sorry for him. AFOSI doesn't have much of a sense of humor. I know someone that told the story that was told him by a general where he worked, and he spent hours being interrogated by AFOSI trying to convince them that it was innocent. That wasn't the first time they interrogated him either. For awhile it seemed like every time he turned around they were knocking on his door and telling him to go with them.

Thanks for sharing what you heard. We should all take note of our government's lack of humour and seriousness regarding national security.

I wonder if there are any rumors going around about that reporter that went missing, James Meek.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions here.

Usually when the federal government responds like this it's because they got caught with their pants down. That's not always the case but statistically speaking it is a possibility.

Snowden and Assange got similar treatment and we all know how that turned out. What are the chances it's something similar here? I'd say 50/50 at this point.

If there was anything on his website the feds would have contacted the webmaster of the hardware where the site is hosted and taken the machine. Clearly its not hosted from his home cause they took all the electronics.

I would say it had to do with them looking for something physical or a shake down to scare him. Maybe the site is closer to something than they like and its a warning.

I'm fairy certain that anyone with enough smarts to fly a
plane, or even if it was a drone...would know that this
area is one of those places you just do not mess with.
Like, unless you were wanting to get dissapeared, just don't.

The air space is clearly marked as a no fly zone. That said,
it seems that someone sent him info from that flight and
that would be the reason for the raid perhaps.

It will be interesting to see what comes of the story for sure.

It's an interesting area. If I'm out walking around, and a classified aircraft flies overhead, and I take pictures of it, I'm not legally bound to hide them, or not post them wherever I want to. If, on the other hand, someone I know or talk to sends me a picture of said classified aircraft sitting on the ground at the base that it's flying out of, and I post it, that's a whole different can of worms. I'm probably going to get my door knocked in, and they're going to want to know who sent it to me. And they're going to be very not friendly about it.
