McConnell defeats Scott in last-minute race for Senate GOP leader

Senate Republicans voted Wednesday to elect Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as their leader over National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who announced his desire to replace McConnell at an acrimonious conference meeting Tuesday.

A large majority of GOP senators voted to elect McConnell leader after a motion backed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other conservatives to delay the leadership election until after the Dec. 6 Georgia Senate runoff failed.

After back-to-back marathon meetings yesterday and today, the GOP Senators have voted to keep Mitch McConnell as the Senate Minority Leader. Her head been challenged by Rick Scott, but after intense debating from apparently a number of Senators, McConnell retained his title.

The hush-hush vote came after Ted Cruz and other Senators associated with the MAGA side of the party argued the vote should be held off until after December 6th in case Herschel Walker wins the run-off in Georgia.

The fact that the vote not only went forward but that McConnell was reelected would indicate that, at least in the Senate, the Neo-Cons still hold the power.

McConnell is such garbage, replacing him would have been for the best but nooo, cant have that now....smdh

So another POS wins. What else is new these days.

That is a tough hit for the republicans as a whole. Mcconnell seems compromised and see him going the Mccain route. Scott would be a better choice for the party however he needs more experience. Mcconell has experience but he gives way to much on his compromises. Also seems like he gets sleepy or unmotivated on the longer game. I personally know where the root of his head scratchers but have no proof.

Anyone who has made that many backdoor deals with the likes of Pelosi and Schumer should not be the leader. There is a reason you don't see the Dems attacking Mcconell as hard as they do others or could.

McConnell received 37 votes while Scott received 10 votes. One senator voted present.

McConnell is a seasoned pro. He was able to get 3 SCOTUS judges during Trump's term. He got the tax cuts for the rich passed. He saved Trump's ass from an impeachment conviction, not once, but twice.

They'd be dumb to get rid someone who does what he does for the party so well.

Don't get me wrong, he's as evil as Alister Crowley. 100% aligned with The Beast. It's hard to find that kind of dedication!

That's too bad. It's no secret how he's enriched himself through China via his wife and SIL. His familt teamwork shines as brightly as the Hunter/Biden duo.

Being a seasoned pro is a good thing, and speaks to NOT having term limits.
However, being a seasoned pro opens the gates to lobbyists and foreign governments.

I think many people are not a fan of the CCP connection to McConnell.

As far as Nancy, she lost me totally the day she tore up official documents on national television.
