WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action to counter the Government of the Russian Federation’s (GoR) persistent malign influence campaigns and systemic corruption in Moldova by imposing sanctions on nine individuals and 12 entities. The individuals and entities sanctioned today include oligarchs widely recognized for capturing and corrupting Moldova’s political and economic institutions and those acting as instruments of Russia’s global influence campaign, which seeks to manipulate the United States and its allies and partners, including Moldova and Ukraine.

Much more at link.

Now if we could just get our treasury to put the same kind of pressure on reducing the national deficit of some 30 trillion dollars, we might be back in business. But that might involve sanctioning sensitive entities vital to the national rape of our tax dollars. And that would be quite politically unsavory.

So I guess we'll have to settle for more foreign wars. Up next: Moldova liberation- Ukraine style.

Do sanctions work for the mega wealthy? They just find a way around them.

They’ll never reduce the national deficit because we live on a debt based system. It has to have debt to function, so we will always have a national deficit.

It's interesting how the tables are turning on the world stage. It's only okay for a country (like the US) to do, but when the tides turn everybody cries foul.

If it's true (and I believe it is) that you get out of life exactly what you put into it, this has been a long time coming. You can't run roughshod over the world for decades and not expect consequences eventually.

Yeah because the current round of sanctions are working so well to cripple everyone but the intended targets.

America has invaded 50 plus countries over the last 20 years with no economic sanctions whatsoever. Why do we feel it's acceptable to be the biggest hypocrite in the room?

The people who believe this will put pressure on Russia are in the same boat as the people who in 2001 thought Iraq had WMD's.

STOP ASSISTING THE WAR MACHINE!!!
