One small problem. Local stores carry a minimal inventory these days. I was looking for an interface to turn some hard drives I have laying around into external drives. I tried local first, no luck. Walmart and Staples both said that I could pick one up at the store in 3 to 5 days. Went on Amazon and had one delivered the next day for about the same price.

By the way the guy getting the kitty litter was pretty smart. He got it delivered. Unless he had a truck, he would have had to have made multiple trips. Depending on how away the store was from his house, the cost of gas and the time it would have taken him, might have made it worth it.

Basically you're stating they are making money due to consumers ignorance.
Ignorance is a personal choice.

It's a personal responsibility if the person has the means to end that ignorance, and not all people have them.
To combat ignorance people need information, and getting good quality information is something that takes time and/or money, and a large percentage of people do not have either to spare.

You are assuming
the few poor people should outweigh those who
can afford to purchase.

I'm not, I'm thinking they shouldn't use fake excuses to increase the prices.

You can choose to buy a farm and live like the Amish or
Mennonites.

People with little money to buy what they need do not have money to buy a farm.
Obviously.

You can even join a Mennonite community
and never have to purchase from the evil profit-making
business owners.

How do those Mennonite communities work?

Just one last point. Most people are poor because they
misuse their time. Too much time enjoying entertainment,
or some frivolous activity that does not lead to earning
greater wealth. I've heard this debate many times,
and it always resolves around poor people not taking
enough responsibility to get ahead in life.

Maybe in your area, but if people need to start working as children and, because of that, do not end their studies, they are not able to get well paying jobs. If they need to work longer hours or have more than one job then they do not have the time to finish their studies to try to get a better life.

How much time do people spend on this Forum
every week? Do you think that time could be spent
learning how to earn greater wealth?

I was not speaking about people on this (or any other) Internet forum, people with monetary difficulties do not have money to spend on Internet access or even on a smart phone.

They would rather complain.

I'm complaining but not regarding my situation, I know that even if I don't have much money I'm much better than many people.

PS: I suppose I spend around 60 or 75 minutes per week on this Forum. 15 years ago I used to spend almost that per day.

Saw this elsewhere I believe this is apropos

I believe at some point it doesn't matter if the CEO's have every right and duty to maximize thier profits, if they come across as greasy money-grubbing sleaze balls that's all the masses care about.

what's the saying

perception is more important than reality

That's what I mean about the incredibly specific things. I use Amazon for phone, tablet, and computer parts pretty regularly because good luck finding them anywhere else.

The kitty litter guy had a Highlander hybrid and lived less than a minute from a Walmart in one direction and a pet supply co. 3 minutes the other way. His exact words were "stock up while it's on sale!"
