Should ATS get a DJ status?

Since we already have a music forum, for "disk-jockey" (DJ) status I'd propose a monthly vote based on a member(s):

- Who promoted discussion using music, web-traffic or anything that benefits the site and community.
- Demonstrates vast knowledge of diverse genres and categories of music.
- Managed to entertain using music. This could be anything from recordings or clips of "domestic-music" to illuminating a "faddy-duddy" or obscure news topic with music.
- Also used other genres like writing (books, pop/rock journalism, music websites, for example). That is, educational value added to music.

Just a thought.
Not sure if you'd have to "apply" or signify your willingness to participate in some way.
Otherwise, like the writer's status really.
Just an extra category to give credit for hard work where it is due, and to encourage people to participate.

Nice suggestion. Thank you for volenteering to pay for the music royalties.

No? No need for that? If we have organized music and not just casual, occasional music discussions, someone will notice and demand royalties be paid.

First opinion - no!
OK, hear you.

Will there be royalty issues?
ATS is already using music from YouTube and possibly other free-use sites.
Not sure why crowning someone here the "DJ of the month" (for example) would require extra royalties from anyone.

I mean with writing forums do publishers want extra because of an ATS status?

I actually think it's a bit of free advertising for them.

So no I don't think there would be any royalty issues.

Just don't claim ownership of work that isn't yours, to which every member here already subscribed.

Now labels - but we already have them.

Although I do think one should indicate if one wants to be a contender or not.

Some like competitions, and others do not, so it should never be imposed.

Of course what you wouldn't be able to see:

"There hold the wheel - you're DJ of the Month.
We're grabbing the money and parachuting out of here".

Er, when people parachute, how long before they fly back up and climb back into the plane?
Just asking for my Russian army exam.

So I guess I should strive to be a better DJ in the next life.
