Oh there's an easy way out... just stop paying for USA's protection as Trump warned.

Trump was trying to get other members to start paying what was promised.

The exact opposite of what you just claimed.

That funding problem was immediately resolved as a result of russia's land grabbing invasion of Ukraine.

Good point.

Danka.

Then please explain why NATO existed after the fall of the USSR and especially during the "Russian Reset."

Did you see Russia get rid of all those nukes or 1000s of tanks/APC after the USSR fell down around their ears?

Thats why there is still a need for NATO.

Methinks you cant have it both ways.

I think you may find that they can and will have it whichever way that's required to defeat, or at least hold in check, the expansion of Russia.

Ah, by any means necessary. Has a familiar ring to it......

So nato involvement from your perspective is not only warranted but encouraged.

Oddly enough ukraine isnt a nato nation and for really good reason.

Because the threat remained, russia still had thousands of nukes aimed at Europe & the US.

Thats one side, the other is NATO has nukes pointed at russia.

The truth and facts are MAD.

More crap from you

It may well do, but that's how you win the game, certainly worked regarding the cold war era.

Ukraine however, whilst not a member NATO nation, has the backing of the NATO nations, and that's just the fact of the matter.

Chances are Ukraine will become part of NATO just like Sweden and Finland, also for a really good reason.

The question was why NATO still existed after the ussr collapsed.

I gave you the only accurate and honest answer, because the russian threat still existed.

EU pfft... what the hell they been doing over there since the 90s... playing Global Socialist Utopia or something?

Play time is up kids, if other members were more interested in defending their own since NATO founding maybe things would be different.

Y'all aren't scared of the boogeyman now are ya.

Except its not honest nor accurate.

Per articles 6 and 7.

Furthermore with the fall of the USSR its purpose remains nebulous.

I do appreciate adherance to facts.

Now, why? Why does Ukraine get special NATO attention and resources?

You really should care about the answer to that question.

That 'boogeyman' still has nukes, and is threatening to use them because the world helped Ukraine obtain the means to defend itself.

Imagine for a minute that 9/11 happened under Trump.

Think the US would have stayed in NATO when France and Germany did a big old NOPE to contributions of troops to the GWOT?

Have any evidence of this special attention to Ukraine by NATO?

Or are you referring to individual countries that also happen to belong to NATO?

Pro tip: they also belong to the UN, why aren't russian propagandists claiming that russia is fighting the UN in Ukraine?

Politics and economics would be my bet as to what they have been doing.

As to how they achieve such well that's their concern.

Play time is up kids, if other members were more interested in defending their own since NATO founding maybe things would be different.

I think you may find they have been doing just that and for very good reason.

Y'all aren't scared of the boogeyman now are ya.

Smashing, and im sure Ukraine appreciates NATO help to repel invasion of the Russian aggressors.

Geography springs to mind.

You really should care about the answer to that question.

No question about it, Russia has to be stopped and NATO are going to help them do so for as long as need be.

Especially so given the area in question and the history regarding the last century.

So "you've" gone full warpig.

Hope not but Putin sure as # has, that's a given.

Eggcellent

Not really much that's excellent about this entire situation.

We are supposed to learn from history, not try and repeat it, especially when the cost may well be the end of civilization as we know it.

All the best to you also JinMI.

Article 6:

Article 6 states that the treaty covers only member states' territories in Europe and North America, Turkey and islands in the North Atlantic north of the Tropic of Cancer, plus French Algeria

Article 7:

In the case of any contradiction with other international obligations (with the exception of the United Nations, which by Article 7 supersedes NATO

Neither of which say anything about what you just claimed.

Why keep making stuff up?
