Crimean bridge linking Crimea to Russia has been hit

Appears to be a truck bomb that exploded on the bridge next to rail cars with fuel.. Apparently a section of the bridge where the bomb exploded has collapsed into the Black Sea.

What comes to mind is, according to the video, it looks like the truck explodes. There is no way anybody inside the cab of the truck survived, making it a suicide mission. Ukraine forces have no issue sacrificing their lives for Ukraine but imo, not in a suicidal way. While Russia is blaming Ukraine for the attack, I think it is more probable to have been carried out by Chechnya or Dagestan. They are having major issues in those 2 regions with Russia, and people from both areas have went to Ukraine to fight FOR Ukraine.

A suicide mission of this type, while being possible Ukraine did it, doesnt fit their doctrine, imo. It does fit Chechnya and Dagestand military doctrine though.




Explosion hits Crimean Bridge, damaging Russian supply route to Ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine — A giant explosion ripped across the Crimean Bridge, a strategic link between mainland Russia and Crimea, in what appeared to be a stunning blow early Saturday morning to a symbol of President Vladimir Putin’s ambitions to control Ukraine.

The damage to the bridge, which provided a road and rail connection from Russia to the Ukrainian peninsula the Kremlin illegally annexed in 2014, marks another serious setback to Russia’s war effort in Ukraine by disrupting a crucial supply route.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the government had no timeline for repairing the 12-mile bridge.

Russia’s Investigative Committee, a top law enforcement body, said a truck explosion had ignited fuel tankers as a freight train crossed the bridge. The cause of the truck blast was not immediately clear. After the explosion, thick plumes of smoke and flames could be seen from a distance.

Putin personally opened the $4 billion bridge, also known as the Kerch Bridge because it spans the Kerch Strait between the Black and Azov seas, in 2018 — a move intended to symbolize Russia’s ownership of Crimea.

Russia has since changed the narrative stating a fuel railroad car had exploded, which does not explain how the section of the road bridge collapsed.

The war is going badly for Russia and cutting more supply lines is going to make it harder on the invading troops. Putin is already hurting for soldiers, hence the subscription of pretty much anyone they can get.
Cutting more supply lines just adds to the list of reasons for Putin to use tactical nukes and if that happens, all bets are off.

It appears the original owner of the truck sold the truck the new driver never registered.

We don't know how the explosion occurred yet so speculation about a truck bomb is purely speculation.

Russia is the aggressor not the victim.

Propaganda is thick on this from both sides. Russia says so what? but considering the 4 billion dollar bridge was one of Putin's accomplishments it has to sting and will likely garner a harsh response.

and is it just me isn't it a little crazy that Ukraine already has a commemorative stamp of the explosion already designed and in the works? Good to see all the aid being put to good use. This is akin to Vietnam making a stamp of the TET offensive the morning it happened. Just a new aspect of modern warfare?

Officials of Russia and occupied Crimea, as well as Russian propagandists, are reacting to the explosion and fire on the Crimean bridge with threats.

Ukrposhta, the national postal service of Ukraine, is to release a new stamp depicting the burning Crimean Bridge; the release date will be announced later.

The new owner may not have been the driver.

Newer video showing it from farther away. The rail portion is still burning. The road portion (from Crimea going towards Russia) is completely collapsed in 2 sections.

" Plan Vert " was the destruction of roads and bridges, and " Plan Tortue " was the destruction of railways. When you have foreign occupiers in your country you do whatever is necessary to eject them.

If you watch the other video it seems the explosion was on the rail section , the only trucks on the bridge at the time were ahead and before the explosion which seems to be at the side of the highway.

WADR so tired of the WWII comparisons, if Germany had nuclear capabilities parts of France would have been decimated, and Germany had no qualms about destroying towns and villages for minor annoyances with conventional warfare.

possibly.. I am curious as to what caused the road portion to collapse. Whats even goofier is it was the 2 lane portion on the outside.

Well Russian KGB blew up 3 housing complexes in Moscow (IIRC) killing several hundred people. These acts were blamed on Chechnya in order to justify the 2nd Chechen war.
