Back in the 1950s and 60s, Warner Brothers Studios had an animation duo that helped produce some incredible cartoons. Maurice Noble created the layouts and sometimes directed, and Philip DeGuard painted. Here are a couple of their best.

From 1954, "Claws For Alarm":
Sylvester is terrified when he and Porky spend the night in a ghost town motel that’s inhabited by murderous mice.

From 1963, "Transylvania 6-5000":
After taking a wrong left turn, ("They routed me off me route"), Bugs ends up in the castle of the vampire, Count Bloodcount.

Disney Studios 30-minute "Sleepy Hollow" cartoon from 1949 is fantastic. An army of animators collaborated on this one. The exploits of Ichabod are hilarious, right up to the Halloween party that sets up the final act. The layouts beginning at about the 23:25 mark created an incredible spooky vibe.

In 1937, Columbia Studios produced "Skeleton Frolic". The intro with the bats is very cool.

Right. The craft of some of those cartoons was just thrilling. How they managed so much in the way of human-like emotions in the eyes and facial gestures of cartoon animals was very cool. And Mel Blanc, you know him? He was the voice of Porky. And not only Porky but more like the voice of ALL of that group of cartoons. Bugs and Porky and Yosemite Sam on down the line. He used to be a great guest on talk shows cuz he could do em all.

Surprised Charlie Brown hasn't been mentioned yet. It was like required watching when I was a kid.
