Like the lazy lion around the water-pool.

I'm not really interested in you as prey.

Looking down on this human who thinks, I'm just there to freak them out.

My legs have senses that are scientifically far above yours.

I see you with eight eyes.

And thus in the crevice I shall hide.

Giving you a glimpse, every now and again, of God's majesty.

So be careful with the feather-duster.

I am Rain Spider.

The end.

Sweetie, on the ceiling or in your hair.
You won't even know I'm there.

Rainspiders are easy to recognize.

They have a white mustache.

Just thought it might be useful information, if you ever look a spider in the face.

So you're quite happy living with an arachnid the size of a horse-shoe crab?

Yeah I'm glad it's there.

Thanks, just an impromptu inspiration by the wonderful life around me.

Quite likely I may try again later this month.

After all, ghoulish Halloween coming up.
Let's go up to the lab ,,, and see what's on the slab.

The Common Rain Spider in South Africa:

www.inaturalist.org...

Recognizable by the mustache, and it likes to sing: "Another one bites the dust".

Even smaller exemplars may cause panic at weddings and after-parties.

Although they are eventually hardly ever killed on purpose.

It's like arachnophobes see it: and "Kill it, killit, killit"!

But once they calm down, and they don't have to see it ... "Shame, just please don't kill it".

But nobody ever does - just get it out in the garden or bush.
