EVERY hurricane season it’s the same thing.

People don’t heed the warnings, then they try to drive their cars like boats and it fails miserably.
Then you’ll see them on their roofs with signs and a desperate look on their faces.

So here’s the thing. I’m not one for government overreach, BUTTTTTTTT
This is one area that I am A OK with public money being used.

I think the government SHOULD pay to get people out of those areas.
Busses, gas money, whatever.
It’s actually a true emergency!
It has to be cheaper than all the rescue operations!

As for why I haven't evacuated yet, I'll point out that the predicted track when I posted last night is now not relevant. The current predictions have my area as a tropical storm at this point.
Where I was expecting to flee to is now a target.
This is why I haven't done anything yet. The weather folks still haven't pinned down where this will come ashore.
I see no advantage of aimlessly driving hoping that I miraculously end up where the storm isn't.
I'm well far enough inland that storm surge isn't an issue, I'll be okay there. I'm concerned about rain and wind, but until the weather folks can come up with a consensus on where this will hit, I'll be staying put.
