Hello ATS Friends,

I really would appreciate some help from anyone already proficient with Poser 3D.

I purchased a project from an artist on Renderosity, which contains all the elements required, thinking I could use them in Photoshop, which I've been using for 15+ years. Unfortunately, even though I can extract the main object I need using freeware MeshLab, I can't apply the poser textures and complete a render.

I've already searched for workarounds and solutions, only DAZ could do it, but requires a lot of fiddling to get the textures to work.

Even though I appreciate any feedback, I really need someone who has Poser, knows how to use it and is prepared to give me a hand with just 3 or 4 simple renders using the project files I will provide.

Please reply here if you can help and then we can continue via PMs or email. Whoever helps will get full credit for the eventual use of the images and can keep the project files for their own pleasure... license is included in the kit.

You can export object from poser then it contains the UV map, without UVmap your object won´t take any textures. You can contact me.
You can download UV mapper classic from this page UVMAPPER it is free.

Thanks dollukka.

I forgot to mention that I don't have poser and can't install it on my ageing PC. My newer work machine doesn't allow me to install unauthorised software... so I'm a bit stuck in a rut.

I had a quick look at UVMAPPER but I can't seem to do anything with it.

Here is a list of the directories and files in the project I bought and some tips from the artist:

I'm pretty much lost as I've never worked with proper 3D programs. I'm used to Photoshop with everything contained in a single psd and relative styles, brushes, etc.

ETA: I tried opening the obj files with UVMAPPER...
cybertenko_ironmask_conf.obj opens but I can't apply the textures from the project.
cybertenko_ironmask_fig.obj won't open at all.

I used GIMP way back in the day for some projects.
Back then , they had several plugins designed to work with Poser files .

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it.

I have GIMP, but never really used it in anger. After nearly two decades of Photoshop, it's uncomfortable to switch over.

Daz studio freeware should have no problems - there is a version of vue desprit I used to mess with that allowed direct imports,, also.

you realize that a pretty general description of 3d art - and some really is art - is taking variously available 3d models and arranging them, their lighting & camera angles. so making 3d models & their textures is art. arranging them and creating an image with them is a different type of art.

tuesday i'll be free if you want something very basic. while some of my 3d models come close to being art my composition skills kinda suck, tho

Working with GIMP with Poser is an animal all it's own .
