This is something I have noticed . I've seen it online in videos, certain groups of people attacking the US flag.

I've also experienced it myself , in person, while wearing some clothing item with the US flag. Not attacking then, but purposefully almost bumping into me and the angry glares. Could be for other reasons, but what other reason could there be when I'm minding my own business?

I don't understand that mentality. I'm only half American, I was born and raised in the Netherlands and so feel 100% Dutch (even though I've now lived in the US for more than 20 years). Yet, I will defend the flag and everything it stands for (liberty) with my life if I have to.

These morons (most 100% American), who so openly hate a symbol of freedom(disappearing) , for what reason? It says more about them , as a person, then it does about a flag. They would behave the same way , for sure, in NK , China etc. Oh no, they wouldn't , as they would be shot
. The oppressed people in China, can't speak up , or they will be unable to buy food etc.
Yet ,these morons , enjoying more freedom than anywhere in the world HATE IT

It says more about them , as a person , their lack of character , than the US flag and what she represents.

There are some Americans who have the entitled attitude and believe they have the answers. They believe the USA is an evil which must be squashed. All while living in a country which allows them the freedom to feel and act so entitled. Have all the time to think about all the evil. Yet never considered how secure they are in being a-holes is because of the basic principles set forth by our founders.

As the technology increases and the attention span decreases. People become stupid. They don't want to be bothered by using their brain any higher than a very primitive level. However they fool themselves because they are surrounded by trappings which makes them feel elevated while deflating their brains.

I contend the average intelligence of an average American is lower than it was 120 years ago.

When respect for a countries fallen begins to die. And the
symbol of their memory becomes a target of those with no respect.
It becomes the duty of those who retain that respect and love of
country. To once again teach that respect by any means necessary.
Before the whole country burns.

My neighbors fly the American flag 24/7.
Right below it they fly the Confederate flag.
Do you find it disrespectful to Old Glory to fly the Confederate flag from the same flag pole?

You mention wearing clothing with Old Glory on it. Some find that disrespectful. Clothing with the flag on it is marketing. There are now American flags on women's underpants. Is that disrespectful ?

As a symbol of all those American ideals the flag should be treated with respect as you say. Traditions for flying, traditions for hoisting and lowering, traditions for folding and storage? Is putting the flag on crumply t shirts respecting that symbol?

Is the four hours they don't fly it one large block of time or do they have fun and split it up into one minute intervals?

If you love your flag , you won't disrespect it in ways I'm talking about. Wearing it on clothes is fine, even JP can get away with it
It's the outright hatred towards the flag, stomping on , burning etc that I'm talking about.

Insanity has no flag.

I love what the flag represents.

Part of that is being freely able to have a different opinion.
I will cherish that as it seems to be changing in our society.

To us old timers, yes. The disrespect started during the Vietnam war, as an affront to the older generations' unwavering loyalty to the country, it seems.

My grandfather allowed me to help him take his flag down on one visit, and a corner touched the ground. He burned the flag after explaining to me how flags should be treated; it instilled a value in me that hasn't changed throughout the years.
I have to accept that those values haven't been passed on to ensuing generations, but I cringe every time I see flag-based clothing, torn flags, flags flying in the rain-even at out local post office!

It's no longer considered the most revered symbol of our history, patriotism and love for country for much of the younger generation.

How do the Dutch, or any other European country's citizens, feel about their country's flag?

From what I've read, it's only in the US that people consider "a piece of cloth" to be an almost "holy", certainly revered, icon.

Your comments show that you understand the point I was trying to make, though you fleshed it out better than I did. My folks were ww2 vets and my father a career reservist. There was one point as a teen that I wanted to wear a t shirt flag and he lived with the notion that that was disrespectful, turning it into a piece of clothing was incomprehensible to him. To him that was product marketing. Selling a product with our flag as the promotional deal.

For me, that also goes for the decades and decades of commercialism that has used the flag and the colors for back ground advertising. Even if the advertisers considered themselves to be good Americans, it was still using the flag as a marketing tool. That was disrespectful to him and to me it still is. It's cheap marketing.

That picture above posted by Mr. Allegheny pretty much says all that is needed to say. Is that pride or disrespect? I know my answer.

No worries, Terry, just having some fun. I can picture them out there every few minutes with a bugle while raising and lowering the flag.

Okay the humor's good. But that is in no way a flag of tradition
country and is 100% commercialized. Not an official flag amigo.
I can't seem to find it flying in front of the UN or any where else
so.

REJECTED!

Because the actual State of Insanity lives only in the heads of ATS conspiracy posters.
